In Memory of Frances Ward Frances Meek Ward, 89, passed away Sunday, March 18, 2012. She was the daughter of Murrel Bush and Clarene Francies Bush, both deceased. Frankie, as she was known in her youth, was raised in Michigan and Illinois by her father and grandmother, Ida Thomerson Bush. Her family returned to Barren County during her teen years. She lived for much of her adult life in Barren County and worked at Glasgow in nursing at the T.B. Hospital and at Howard’s Clinic in the Emergency Room and then as Dr. Justin MacCarthy’s office nurse. After moving to Hart County, she worked for many years as a second shift nurse at Caverna’s E.R. and finally retired from nursing after several years in the office of Dr. James Crews, Cave City. Ms. Ward wa a member of Cedar Cliff Baptist Church. Pastor Barry Devine officiated at her service. She chose cremation and wanted a private service for family only. Although she loved her many friends, she reserved this final time for her family. Her ashes were buried, at her request, in the gravesite of her deceased husband William “Billy” Meek in the New Salem Methodist Church Cemetery in Barren County. Here Ms. Ward’s mortal remains will rest in the company of her many loved ones who are buried there. She was the beloved mother of five children: one son William Murrell Samson, who preceded her in death; one daughter, Janise Meek Phillips of Horse Cave, and three sons, John Meek (Kaye), Jim Meek, and Joe Meek (Anita), all of Glasgow. She enjoyed seeing five grandchildren grow into wonderful adults: Candise Clemmons Curlee of Marietta, GA; Amy Jo Meek Cantine of White House, TN; Janise Dawn Phillips Gardner of Horse Cave; Ann Marie Meek of Clarksville, TN; and James Devin Meek of Glasgow. Her four great grandchildren called her Granny Mouse and will miss her smiling face and outstretched arms: Austin Reynolds, Alexis Reynolds, and Addison Gardner all of Horse Cave and Matthew Curlee of Marietta, GA. A half sister, Joyce Harris, preceded her in death and a half brother, Joe Harris, CA, survives. Ms. Ward requested that in lieu of flowers, love donations be made to Cedar Cliff Church (They may be mailed to: Thelma Sturgeon, Cedar Cliff Church Treasurer; 110 W. Main Street; Horse Cave, KY 42749). As one of her great grandsons posted on his Facebook page: “Rest in Peace, Granny Mouse. Rest in peace.” “I have fought the good fight. I have finished the race. I have kept the faith.” 2 Timothy 4:7 Munfordville Methodist Church will be presenting the drama “As I Have Loved You” on Thursday evening April 5th at 7:00pm. “Please join us for a rendition of the Last Supper through the eyes of the disciples and Jesus,” Pastor Richard Johnson said.
