Dear Woodwardians! We proudly present the pinkest Newsletter of the year! This week it's all about Valentine's Day: love, romance, kisses, roses, secret letters... (And the Valentine's Casino Party on Friday!) We hope everyone's dreams come true on this wonderful day (yes, boys, this is a warning!). But don't worry if your Prince Charming didn't show up this year: you only have to wait 366 days for the next opportunity! Humans of Woodward Hall So basically, Aaron Williams (the cool hall senior on C2 in case you’re wondering) was the only person to send anything for this section. Hence the chocolate goes to him, congrats! Contact Andreea to claim your prize. Here’s Aaron’s love poem: Roses are red, Violets are blue Nutella is sweet, But not as sweet as you. xxx WOODWARD NEWS Happy Valentine’s Day! Oana, C9, Maths and CompSci We've been together for nearly two years. We met in a camp, we qualified for the final stage of a Mathematics contest. But Cristian told everyone that we met at the seaside, partying, because he doesn't like that we met at a Maths camp. For his birthday, we were just one months together and I organised a little party and I bought him a cake, and champagne, and my parents didn't know. But now, they know... We applied to the same universities, I had an offer from Oxford, but I put it second so that I can be with him at Imperial. Cristian, D11, CompSci I think we're planning to study on Valentine's Day because she has an interview with Google on the 15th. We have a lot of memories together, we visited a lot of places like Italy, Austria, Hungary, Greece, Croatia, Bosnia, Serbia, Bulgaria. In Romania we lived 600 km away from each other and one time, I wanted to make her a surprise and I visited her without her knowing. WOODWARD NEWS Happy Valentine’s Day! Day: love, romance, kisses, roses, secret letters... (And the Valentine's Casino Party on Friday!) We hope everyone's dreams come true on this wonderful day (yes, boys, this is a

warning!). But don't worry if your Prince Charming didn't show up this year: you only have to wait 366 days for the next opportunity!

Oana, C9, Maths and CompSciWe've been together for nearly two years. We met in a camp, we qualified for the final stage of a Mathematics contest. But Cristian told everyone that we met at the seaside, partying, because he doesn't like that we met at a Maths camp. For his birthday, we were just one months together and I organised a little party and I bought him a cake, and c h a m p a g n e , a n d m y parents didn't know. But now, the y k now. . . Cristian, D11, CompSciI think we're planning to study on Valentine's Day because she has an interview with Google on the 15th.

Cupid’s InboxThe editors of the Woodward Newsletter and Cupid read through all your messages. Unavoidably, we needed to do a little bit of filtering before publishing here - we had a lot of fun reading your declarations of love, but censorship had to be implemented to some extent... if you’re unhappy because your message is not here, contact the editors and we’ll try to deliver privately and anonimously. ;)

1. You look stunning when you eat, absolutely baffled, Amycakes.2. Sigh no more Amy sigh no more/ Men were deceivers ever One foot on sea and one on shore / for one thing constant never/ so sigh not so but let them go / and be your blythe and bonny /converting all your sounds of woe into hey nonny, / nonny (Editor’s note: SHEAKEPEARE AGAIN!)

Hello, I want to estherbond with you, you understand.Sup Song

Let me not to the marriage of true minds/ Admit impediments. Love is not love/Which alters when it alteration finds,/ Or bends with the remover to remove:O, no! it is an ever-fixed mark,/ That looks on tempests and is never shaken; It is the star to every wandering bark,/ Whose worth's unknown, although his height be taken./ Love's not Time's fool, though rosy lips and cheeksWithin his bending sickle's compass come; / Love alters not with his brief hours and weeks,/ But bears it out even to the edge of doom. If this be error and upon me proved, I never writ, nor no man ever loved. (Editor’s note: SHAKESPEARE POEM!)

Valentine Message to the Hall Seniors

Valentine Message to the Hall Seniors

I love you so much guys. You're the best people ever!!

1. Muffins are dead easy to do, the only difficulty is that

they require "special equipment" like muffin papers or a

muffin tray. But once you invested in such luxury items,

you can start your own little Woodward Patisserie!

2. The first thing is to mix the flour, the sugar and the

eggs. Flour is the key ingredient: classic recipes usually

say something between 150-350 g. So, unless you invest

in a dry measuring cup (£3 in ASDA, best buy I've had in

years...), a good guess is a flatly filled mug. Unless it's self-

raising, put a teaspoon of baking powder in it. Sugar? A

bit less than flour (if you have a gym membership you can

do 1:1 ratio, otherwise I'd recommend 2:1...). Mix it

together with the two eggs. It's ready when you can no

longer tolerate the pain in your biceps. Do a 2-minute

stretching before you proceed.

3. Now you need to mix in a spoonful of butter. This is the

last chance to modify the consistency: you can shift the

viscosity with adding a little (!) bit of flour (too much: too

dry product) or milk (too much: it will stick in the cup).

And here comes the Magic Trick of Muffins: you can

flavour it with anything you like! I used cocoa powder and

Oreo cookies because I have an excess amount of them,

but other choices may include Nutella, banana, apple,

cherry, cinnamon, cottage cheese, almond. While you're

mixing them, you can calculate how many possible

combinations exist with n4 ingredients and how much

flour do you need to bake all of them?

4. The most difficult part: evenly distributing the dollop

in the muffin cups... The method is the following: you

take a spoonful of the mixture, and push it into a cup with

your fingers, then repeat. And even though it would be so

easy to just lick your fingers after every spoon, don't do it!

I said DON'T!!! Ahh, nevermind, I did it, too...

5. Put it in the oven on 170-180 C with ventilation. Wait

for 20 minutes (in the meantime, you can wash the

dishes, do a Maths problem sheet, read the rest of the

newsletter, stare out of the window, or... yes, you can go

Facebooking, too...). After 20 minutes, take it out (aaand

that's when I burnt my fingers) and carefully poke the top

of them. The desired state is when they are not too soft,

not too stiff, but something like the yellow side of a brand

new sponge scourer: springy!

6. For expert patissiers: there is a section in ASDA (near

the breads) where you can buy basically any kind of cake

decorating stuff. Little hearts, bigger hearts, icing in 15

d i f f e r e n t c o l o u r s , e d i b l e p e a r l s , m i n i a t u r e

marshmallows... Warning: the more you stand there

having grandiose creative ideas, the more you'll pay at

the checkout...
