Food for Families Collection Report
By 524 Brother Knight Randy Soukup
I delivered our "Food for Families" to St. Aloysius food
pantry on the Sunday after the snow storm. Margaret
Rondeau, pictured below, greeted me at the church for
entry to the food panty. I presented her with the food
we collected and the check for $500.00 which she
didn't expect. She was so excited getting the money
saying that she had just spent $700.00 to stock their
pantry for the coming week before thanksgiving.

Milwaukee Pere Marquette 524 Foundation message
KNIGHTS & LADIES,
This December 2015 the Foundation distributes about $20,000 to
twelve Benefactors. We looked at what we have done from before
birth to death with give to Ultra Sound equipment, Birthright care
after birth to the Mothers, NAMI Family to Family help, Ignatian
Spirituality Retreat for addiction, Angel fund for Tuition for Catholic
School, St. Stanislaus blue Knights & Little Flowers Boys & Girls
in grade schools, St. Francis Seminary Two Seminaries and
Xaverian Missions and Blessed Sacrament Senior Group.
This is done by your donations to the Foundation and we are
hoping to keep doing this for many years. Again The Foundation
would like to Thank all from the many donations.
We wish you’re all a VERY HAPPY NEW YEAR
Thank You letter from Margaret Rondeau
At our December Council meeting, we read the
hand written note that was received from Margaret.
Quote: " More than words can express, thanks so
much for your tremendous donation of non-
perishable food items, in addition to the most
generous "GIFT" of a check for $500.00 !
May the Lord reward you a hundred-fold.
Even though St. Aloysius has Kof C. (council
3095) both Mary Queen of Heaven & Immaculate
Heart of Mary Catholic Parishes are willing to host
your Council # 524.
Wishing all of you a Blessed Christmas season &
New Year 2015. In God's Love,
Margaret, Food Pantry Coordinator" End Quote.
Editors Note: St. Aloysius, Immaculate Heart of
Mary, and Mary Queen of Heaven are all part of a
Tri-Parish Cluster of West Allis - Pat Reiff
Editors Note: Regarding Change of Address
It is apparent that several of our Senior members are either moving
in with family members or health care facilities, as evidenced by
the returned newsletters that are coming back to me from the Post
Office. If this is in your future, we pray that all goes well for your
future health needs, and would appreciate a notice of change of
address so that we can keep in touch in with you.
God Bless, Pat Reiff

The pitfalls of replacing coverage
You know the old saying, “the grass seems greener on the other side of the fence,” but we all know that it rarely is. The same holds true when it comes to replacing your existing Knights of Columbus life insurance with coverage offered by another company. Perceptions are deceiving. A move to the “greener” grass on the other side of the fence might seem like a good one, but it can leave you with less green in your wallet — in some cases, a lot less. That’s why it pays to remember another old adage, “Read the fine print.” There are many reasons to keep your existing coverage in force, whether that coverage is with the Knights of Columbus or with another company. We’ll focus on the potential pitfalls of replacing coverage here — pitfalls that an agent trying to convince you that the grass actually is greener might neglect to mention. First, all life insurance contracts contain a contestability period, which allows the insurer to contest claims made for a period — typically two years — after the contract is issued. Chances are this is no longer an issue with your current coverage. Second, it’s unlikely that you can obtain the same amount of coverage, for the same premium, that you were able to obtain with your existing contract. The two factors that determine how much you’ll need to pay for life insurance coverage are age and health. Certainly, you’re older now than you were when you took out your current coverage. There’s no way around that. And you have to ask your-self, has your health changed during that time? Is your blood pressure the same? Your cholesterol? Have you gained weight? All these factors can affect the amount of coverage you’ll get for your premium dollar. If someone encourages you to replace — or worse, drop — your existing coverage, please call me. I will show you how your existing coverage is working for you and why replacement is rarely in your best interest. Council Field Agent

Vocations Article
The STAGES of FORMATION (Jesuit Style) are:
NOVITIATE: 2 years: A novice joins a community of brothers to grow in prayer, Jesuit history, apostolic work and personal enrichment. After meeting the Lord through the Order’s thirty-day Spiritual Exercises, he vows poverty, chastity and obe-dience.
FIRST STUDIES: 3 years: The newly-vowed candidate, now a brother or scholastic, begins academic work to study phi-losophy and theology; he also deepens his Jesuit identity through ministerial work that challenges and strengthens his gifts.
REGENCY: 3 years: The brother or scholastic now partici-pates in the order’s active ministry, usually teaching at a high school or university.
THEOLOGY: 3 years: Scholastics usually move on to formal theology studies to prepare for priestly ordination. Brothers study theology for a shorter time – to prepare for and en-hance their future ministry.
ORDINATION: The scholastic now receives the sacrament of Holy Orders and is available for his first assignment as a priest.
TERTIANSHIP: (3 years later): Priests and brothers take a year to review their formation, to experience again the thirty-day retreat, and to pronounce final vows into their Society.
