Summary

• Addy needed to get medicine for M’Dear because she was sick

• The clerk helped all other customers but ignored Addy because she was black

• When he finally asked what they wanted, he was very rude and threw the medicine on the counter.

• On the streetcar the conductor said no blacks were allowed. So Addy got off and ran home.

What I likedWhat I liked about this book is it is teaching

us that race doesn’t matter, and all human beings have feelings.

What I hated

What I didn’t like about this this that it was a girls’ book but it was interesting to find out

what girls read. Very interesting!!
