Around the large site the existing traditional concrete covers had deteriorated over time and had become un-sightly and un-safe. Concrete is a porous material and in cold conditions where trapped water freezes the concrete is liable to cold crack. The site had faced large annual maintenance and replacement costs and S C Civils felt there had to be a longer lasting material which could be used to replace the existing concrete cable duct covers. The power station also posed the challenge of having very

complex routes of cable channels. On sites where complex channels are an issue, concrete covers are

extremely difficult to cut on site due to their weight. Where intricate joins are required concrete is liable to cracking. S C Civils wanted to find a product that could be easily cut
