gives further specific details regarding the course.
Course No : CHEM F376/ F377
Course Title : Design Project
Instructor-in-charge : RAGHU NATH BEHERA
1. Scope and Objective of the course:
The course is specially designed to provide an opportunity to the students to take part in design
of products/processes/software in specific areas, to develop independent thinking, to involve in a
focused study/computational work of a specific area and to develop report writing and
presentation skills which will provide them a platform for the future higher academic activities.
As a part of the curriculum this project course is centered on the day-to-day involvement of the
student in the design/laboratory/computational activities in the proposed area of work under the
supervision of his/her instructor. The evaluation will recognize this aspect by demanding
continuous assessment of the involvement and punctuality of the student.
2. Plan of Work:
The plan of work for each student will be decided by the respective Instructor. Each student
should adhere to the plan of work.

4. Mid-semester grading:
Mid-semester grades will be announced by the respective instructor on/before 25/03/2014 to
their students

5. Grading Procedure:
Grading will be done on the basis of the progress made towards the achievements of the projects
objectives and will recognize that each instructor has given specific task situation in which the
student participates in a cognitive manner. Thus each Instructor will recommend a grade for his
student on the basis of marks obtained for the consideration of the Instructor-in-charge. In a
specialized course of this nature the respective Instructor's assessment of the student vis-a-vis the
objective of the project would be the central criteria for arriving at final grade. It is also
recommended that for the final seminar and evaluation at least one other faculty member from
the department should be present.
6. General:
It is the student's responsibility to ensure:
A. Continuous interaction with the Instructor B. Adherence to the plan of work C. Submission of reports on/before due date
7. Notices:
All notices related to this course will be put up on course page on moodle. It is requested that
student check the moodle page for new notices.
8. Project Reports:
A soft copy of the project report should be submitted to your Instructor (project guide) who will
submit it to the Instructor In Charge. A soft copy of the final report (single file preferably in pdf
format) may also be submitted by the student at the online course-management page.
