IntroductionIntroduction The information you are receiving

today is important to you as a student. In order for HHMS to provide you with the best possible education, you must take the responsibility of choosing subjects that will help you achieve your goals. You will receive an information booklet needed for scheduling. It will provide you with graduation requirements, scheduling requirements, course summaries and other important information. Read this guide carefully and discuss your schedule with your parents. You are not allowed to change teachers or course subjects, so you should give serious consideration to your selections.

GRADUATION GRADUATION REQUIREMENTSREQUIREMENTS

((for incoming freshmen beginning for incoming freshmen beginning

2008-092008-09))

The Louisiana Department of Education has three basic diplomas for the freshmen class of 2008-09 and beyond. They are the LA Core 4, the Career Diploma and the Basic Diploma. Every student is automatically enrolled in the LA Core 4 unless the student transfers over on the Career Diploma. After two years in high school the parent/guardian and the student may choose to opt out of the Core 4 and enter the Basic Diploma. In order to opt out, a conference must be held with the student’s counselor to discuss the options and a contract must be signed.

Note: only those students in the Core 4 meet 4-year university/college entrance requirements.

About About SchedulingScheduling

We encourage students and parents/guardians to agree upon course selections. Parents’ signatures are required and the scheduling form should be returned within the deadline.

If a student does not turn a schedule request in on time, the counselors will make one for them.

Once a course has been selected we will be unable to make changes as the master schedule is based upon students’ requests.
