One of the wells drilled on Haltenbanken projected on Kristiansund
• Total length 7282 m
• Total number of meter drilled into the reservoir: 6709 m.
• We hit targets with uncertainty of about ± 25 m horizontally
• The vertical uncertainty is less.

Haltenbanken Village assignments
• The project is divided into two parts:
− Assignment A Delivery 4th of February
− Assignment B Delivery End of April
• Assignment A is the same for all groups
− Challenge: Integration of data for improved management
− Prepare a presentation
• Assignment B is different for almost all groups (four challenges)
− Decide on challenge (B) to work on during the day
− Detailed presentations the 4th of February when visiting Statoil in Stjørdal

B1 – EOR Development Project
2013-12-20 12 Classification: Internal
• To aim for highest recovery from Heidrun, possibilities for enhanced oil recovery (EOR) projects are being pursued.
• You will study the effect of low salinity water flooding and polymer flooding using an 1-D numerical simulation model.
• The group also needs to get familiar with the geological setting and discuss geological impacts on the sweep efficiency.
• Use the provided block model of the Heidrun field and try to improve the oil recovery in the sector using EOR.
• Create a feasible business case based on provided financial assumptions.
B2 – Production Optimization
2013-12-20 13 Classification: Internal
• The Heidrun field has a high number of actice wells Some wells need to be automatically controlled.
• The group will first get familiar with production optimization, involved constraints, available data and reservoir aspects.
• Involved risks will be investigated and mitigating measures will have to be discussed.
• The flow line capacity for the D-line & the gas lift capacity for a specific well will be simulated.
• An injector-producer system will be modelled.
B3 – Increase HC Production and Recovery at Heidrun by Subsea Boosting
2013-12-20 14 Classification: Internal
• As part of the evaluation process of the North Flank project (NFL), the use of subsea booster pumps shall be evaluated.
• The students are ask to explain how subsea booster pumps work and to make them familiar with the different available types and their area of application.
• The main constraints/capacities of subsea booster pumps shall be discussed and the most suitable pump for expected production profiles shall be evaluated.
• Using Prosper & Eclipse the group is asked to create a network model to identify the best locations to boost production.
• Are there benefits in terms of added reserves or increased production?
B4 – Future Well Solutions
2013-12-20 15 Classification: Internal
• Wells drilled according to todays practices and technologies might not be sufficient to profitable drain more difficult reserves in the future.
• The group is therefore asked to investigate suitable well solutions for producing a heterogeneous reservoir like the Åre 5.1 on Heidrun.
• Get familiar with the geological setting of the Åre formations 5.3 to 5.1 and how heterogeneity is linked to production aspects.
• Evaluate few completion solutions to optimize production.
• Use the reservoir segment model to evaluate the production potential for various well realisations.
• Conclude on how to best produce the Åre 5.1 formation in combination with the layers above.
