The Manager’s Corner
October is upon us and cooler weather is just around the corner. With the cooler weather, comes the end to our rainy season and the appearance of our residents out and about in the community. These changes will enable some of our house bound residents to tend to their home’s exteriors. The Hamptons is once again awarding a $100.00 Gift Certificate to the most improved yard. The criteria for this award is: 1.) Mowing of lawn is on a regular schedule 2.) Shrubs and trees now continue to be trimmed and maintained 3.) Driveway is being kept clean, 4.) The exterior of the home is being kept in a neat and orderly manner, 5.) Weeds have now been attended to on a regular basis, and 6.) Siding has been power washed regularly. The winner of last month’s $100.00 Gift Certificate for outstanding exterior appeal was Nancy Barry. Congratulations Nancy, and thank you for all your hard work that helps to keep The Hamptons Community looking beautiful. Maintaining the beauty in our community is a collective effort and it helps to keep the value of our homes secure. The Hamptons’ management team as well as its residents are responsible for the desirable image that The Hamptons’ Community currently holds. Helping to sustain the beautiful appearance of The Hamptons is not only seen with our eyes, but is also found in our words. When a resident is confronted with a concern or problem, it is always wise to bring it to a source that will be able to help solve it and not to others who cannot. Negative messages get misconstrued and we all know how the game of telephone plays out. Many resident concerns can be easily explained if taken to the appropriate party. Naturally, each resident has a choice to voice their opinions as they please, however, being discreet and considerate keeps our neighborhood as well as its residents safe. Please keep all of this in mind when referencing our community and/or its residents. Understanding fully that everyone has strong thoughts and desires to express them, we simply ask that it is conducted properly. Therefore, we are also asking that homeowners display flags in a tasteful manner and refrain from placing yard signs. Until next month, please stay safe and remain healthy.
~Phil Bernhauser, Community Manager

Hampton Home Sales
Interested in selling your home? Dick Hansen and Lin Keller are at your service. The Hamptons’ Sales Office is located in the front of the community just outside the gates. Last year Dick and Lin sold 74 homes and have sold 28 so far this year in spite of the pandemic. We offer a full service listing which includes advertising, all documents processed by our staff and secure showings. Home prices are rising, so now’s the time to list to get the most “bang for your buck”.

on the golf flag. ‘Find the Logo’ will again
continue this month. The prize will be a 15.00
Walmart gift certificate. On the 4th day of the
month, ANYTIME AFTER 12 NOON, the
first Hamptons’resident to email a description

dents can then pick up one BINGO board. Each
day after (except weekends), a number will be
displayed on the front door of the Clubhouse.
The first person to get a straight line BINGO

onal, however, four corners and postage stamps
will not be considered a win. The first person to
return their winning board to the Clubhouse Of-
fice will win a $50.00 Walmart Gift Certificate.
LADIES 18-HOLE
GOLF LEAGUE
The Ladies 18-Hole Golf League will begin
its new season on October 8. The ladies play
every Thursday morning with tee times
beginning at 8:00. The league is open to all
lady golfers: beginners, not-so-good, and
really good golfers. If you wish to play, sign
up on the sheet on the bulletin board outside
the Pro Shop no later than noon on Tuesday.
(For the first few weeks we will all meet at
8:00am and draw cards to make up teams.
Later, teams will be assigned tee times.) We
play a Stableford game format which means
you are only competing with your own past
performance and not with other golfers.
League dues are $10.00 for the season and
weekly prize money is $2.00. Prospective
members may play twice to check us out
before paying dues. We welcome all
newcomers and look forward to a season of
fun and comradery.

NOTES FROM THE CHORALIERS
The Choraliers are still here and
our neighbors are anxious for us to
get back to the Clubhouse to prac-
tice - instead of in our own show-
ers! We are still monitoring the
COVID virus situation and will keep
everyone informed as things begin
to turn around. Meanwhile, keep a
song in your hearts and stay safe.
TOPS Have you found that one of the effects of the
Covid 19 virus has been a weight gain? Well, so
have a few of us. We invite you to join us in the
card room Friday Mornings at 8:30 a.m. for
TOPS. We support each other to lose weight
with healthy eating and exercise. We have a brief
business meeting and then a short program or
sometimes a discussion time to help each other.
We are done no later than 10:00am.

Medical Volunteers Needed
RN, Pharmacist, EMT
The Hamptons CERT members have been certified by the Florida Department of Health to
distribute a pill or vaccine to prevent the spread of a contagious disease such as COVID. By work-
ing with the Florida Department of Health, The Hamptons CERT team would receive the anti-virus
medication to be distributed from our Clubhouse to all Hampton residents.
We need RNs, Pharmacists, or EMTs (currently licensed in the state of Florida) to fill some
positions for the POD procedure. You do not need to be a CERT member to assist. If you are an
RN, Pharmacist or EMT and would like to learn more about how you can assist with this program,
please contact one of the following residents so you can help make a difference in your community.
Carol Lattig – 863-667-3453 or Jim Schmalbach – 863-816-4699
[email protected] [email protected]
CERT Training CERT is a program that makes great efforts to engage citizens in making their communities
safer, more prepared and more resilient when incidents occur. If available, emergency services
personnel are the best trained and equipped to handle emergencies. Following a disaster, however,
you and our community may be on our own for a period of time because of the size of the area
affected, lost communications, and unpassable roads.
The CERT Basic Training will enable you to assist yourself or others until professional
responders can get to the scene. The next CERT Basic Training session is the end of October. To
register, email your name, phone number, address, and email address to Kathy Drainville, Polk
County Public Education Officer, [email protected]. If you have any questions,
please contact Carol Lattig 863-667-3453 or Jim Schmalbach 863-816-4699
It’s Slippery Out There!
It has been noted by several residents that a
slippery slime has been flowing onto resident
driveways and around mailboxes. One possible
remedy is to mix equal amounts of water and
bleach and spray it on the slime. In some areas
you may need to do a little scrubbing, but it
should reduce the slime that is causing the
ground to be slippery. In any case, residents
should always be cautious when walking outside.

back. For more info, call 863-965-5511.

students in each class and the subject matter for
the painting will be the same for both classes.

will make up each class. A waiting list will be
kept in case of cancellations. Class will begin at
2:00 p.m. All supplies are provided for you to do
your painting.
An added attraction will be a Boutique
Table with lovely gift items for purchase. It will
be available starting at 12 noon for all Hampton
residents until class starts at 2 p.m.
We will have wine available, but are
asking that you bring your own snacks

afternoon and you will take home a beautiful
16 x 20 painting to hang in your home.
Hamptons Helping
Hands Duck Pluck
Postponed until Sunday
3/28/21 Due to everything that has happened since last
March and our inability to sell our little ducks
at any Hamptons events, the HHH has decided
to postpone our Labor Day Duck Pluck and
change it to our Easter Duck Pluck!!! You
can still buy ducks from Rose Flynn at 214
Golf View Drive for $5.00 each. Buy a duck
and your ducks’ number will be recorded with
your name. Then on our Easter Duck Pluck
we’ll dump them all into the end of the pool
and with the help of some of our residents
providing some “motion to the ocean”, the first
three ducks to pass through to the end will split
the winnings. For those of you who are out of
town or in Canada, no problem...you can either
order ducks on Facebook or just send your
money to us and we will pull a duck for you
and register your number. Send your donation
to Rose Flynn, 214 Golf View Drive and don’t
forget to add your name to the list!!! You need
not be present that day to win. Ducks will be
on sale from now until Wednesday, March
24th. Contact any HHH officer (Rose Flynn,
Deanna O’Donald, or Diane Gallant) to buy
your duck.
Hamptons Helping Hands (HHH) wants to strengthen communication with our loyal supporters. If you would like to receive periodic emails from HHH regarding our fund raising activities, please send us your email address. In doing so, you will give us permission to include you in our group emails.

November 3rd—Election Day.
If you are new to the park and have wondered
what quilting is about, come to the meeting.
Questions are answered, ideas are shared by all
and we often have a few laughs. The Hampton
Quilters meet every Tuesday morning from 9:30
a.m. to 1:30 p.m. in the clubhouse. Everyone is
welcome. You don’t have to be an experienced
quilter or even a quilter to join us. We will be
happy to share our knowledge and love of
quilting with you. For more information contact

BACK TO SCHOOL During the month of August
and September, Hampton Helping Hands
(HHH) donated Back to School supplies to the
City of Auburndale's 4 Elementary schools and
1 Middle school. There was more of a need this
year than ever, as many of the schools' tradi-
tional sources dried up due to the Covid-19
pandemic. HHH to the rescue! To the Elemen-
tary Schools, we donated a total of 216 back-
packs each filled with 44 of the usual assorted
school supplies. To the Middle School, we do-
nated specifically requested items to go inside
the ‘Case It Mighty Zip’ binders we ordered in
prior years. Total spent was $4,806 and we
aren't done.
The schools are requesting a repeat of
these items for the 2nd Semester. We will still
purchase Christmas gifts for our kids this year,
but gathering information and delivery will be
different. Details to follow as these develop.

RECYCLING NEWS
Just a reminder to all and especially to our new
residents, we have a can recycle program here
in The Hamptons that accepts aluminum bever-
age cans and cat food cans. Cat food cans must
be clean, labels removed and bagged separate
from beverage cans. All cans should be depos-
ited in the shed located adjacent to the cart path
that passes by the cart parking area next to the
pool and grille. Just deposit cans through the
sliding window in the shed. There are also can
deposit barrels located at the pool. We thank
all that contribute. Any questions, call Bob
Miller 863-583-4374.
~ACH~ What’s ACH? Well, it stands for Automatic Clearing House Transactions. The Hamptons offers this service to you at no cost. The service authorizes Sun Commu-nities, Inc. to present automated clearing house debits to your checking/savings account in the amount of the balance due on your account for monthly rent fees. Your rent fee would be deducted by the 5th of each month. So, if you’re tired of bringing your rent check down to the Clubhouse Office, this is the way to go.

EASY SUNDAY MORNING Easy Sunday Morning is continuing to meet on
Sunday mornings, 9 am, at the clubhouse. Our
bible study of the “End Times” continues with a
study of the Book of Daniel and the fall of Baby-
lon. Our morning is led by Pastor Jim Locke and
sometimes guest leaders. We would like to invite
anyone that has a talent for singing or playing a
musical instrument to join us and honor God
with your talent. Come join us for singing, re-
freshments and fellowship. We are practicing
social distancing so bring your mask. Please en-
ter through the door at end of clubhouse next to
the parking lot. Any questions call Bob Miller,
863-583-4374.
For Your Information Only, A Must Read
With the Hamptons’ gates open for 12 hours daily, and
having more than 800 homes with over 1200 people dwelling in them, it’s only logical that we have some sort of additional protection. There-fore, in 2011, The Hamptons together with the Sherriff’s Department formed a citizens assistant patrol program (CAP). Our volunteers have fluctu-ated over the years and now with the pandemic upon us, our numbers have dwindled even further. Needless to say……………WE NEED HELP! The Hamptons’ CAP members and the Polk County Sheriff’s Department cordially invite all Hampton residents to join our happy volunteer group in the protection of your community. The rewards are endless and the only cost to you is a little piece of your time. Being a CAP member brings pride unto oneself and the people around them. If you are curious, have questions, or are interested in becoming a Hamptons’ patrol volunteer, please feel free to contact Tim Pralle (CAP Coordinator) at (863) 207-1629 or the Clubhouse Office at (863) 667-0275. You can also request a list of current CAP members if you would feel more comfortable talking to them.
I want to extend my gratitude and
appreciation to all of the Hampton residents
who have expressed their condolences for the
passing of my wife, Sharon Bruce who, as
you know, loved and cared for everyone she
met. She will be missed by many. Thank you
all so much. ~John Bruce
