Well, I certainly found out why Kindy teachers are such special teachers on Tuesday, when I went with 37 very excited students and 2 wonderfully dedicated teachers up to Billabong Zoo. The day was jam packed looking at, patting and having lots of fun with a wide variety of animals. We saw birds, turtles, emus and heaps of kangaroos and wallabies. The students’ behaviour could not be faulted, and I was very proud indeed of how well-mannered and beautifully behaved everyone was. I am really looking forward to the next excursion. Punctuality It is vitally important that everyone arrive at school as close to 9am as possible. When your child arrives on time they are able to focus and prepare themselves for a wonderfully successful day. The school day starts promptly at 9am each day and rolls are marked basically straight away. Important instructions for the day are delivered during the first 20 minutes and if your child is not present it can mean they miss some very important information. Teachers will soon be marking the roll electronically and any late arrivals or early leavers will need to go through the office so the electronic roll can be amended. It is important to make sure your child arrives at school, on time, each day. On May 22nd the girls’ and boys’ softball teams travelled to Nabiac to play the first game of the PSSA State Knockout competition. Both of our teams had been training for a couple of months, including a few week-end sessions. They have been trying to quickly learn a game that is not played locally. Mr May and I have been very pleased with the huge improvement of all the players. We are also very appreciative of Mr Jason Walker and Mr Trevor Blanning for assisting and running some of the sessions. Thank you! At Nabiac the girls played first and took off with some great batting and running. Nabiac could not match them in the first innings so we were up 14 to 2. After two more innings the score was 18 to 10. The pressure was back on, but in the last innings our girls batted strongly again. We declared at 27 to 10. Well done girls for playing so well! We will be concentrating on our throwing and catching over the next few weeks until our next game against Grahamstown. The boys began their game in the field. Nabiac, as always had some very powerful hitters who found the gaps or even hit over our fieldsmen’s heads. This gave them a good lead in the first and second innings. Nabiac were up 10 to 4. The battle continued with our boys clutching their way back to only 3 behind. It was very exciting as our boys went in for their final bat. Unfortunately two got out in one play and the third soon followed. No extra runs were made. The final score was 15 to 12. The boys were great sportsmen in their defeat. I hope they were proud of their efforts, as we all were. Mrs Channell

Congratulations to Angel Bendeich, Kyia Madadghar-Smith Ebony Cavanough and Nelson Jackson on gaining their Bronze medallion (Collecting 5 merit certificates) Christina Davis - Absent
