ELECTRIC ACTUATORS STANDARD FEATURES

• CERTIFICATES Manufactured to ISO 9001 CSA and CE approved

• GEAR TRAIN Self-Locking, eliminates the need for a motor brake.

• OUTPUT TORQUE Twelve models available, output torques from 310”lbs to 31,150”lbs

• MANUAL OVERRIDE Non-clutch design, override can be operated without engaging or dis-engaging a clutch. Manual override remains stationary while motor is running

• ENCLOSURE: Nema 4X, Powder coated aluminum housing. IP67: Waterproof and Dust-proof

• POSITION INDICATOR All models have a high visibility indicator on top of the actuator cover.

• MOTOR: 110/1/60 Extended duty cycle induction motor. Built-In thermal protection (135°C) (275°F)

• HEATER All models have a Heater and Thermostat.

• WORKING CONDITIONS: Ambient Temperature: Heater Not Energized (-5°C)(23°F)(+60°C)(140°F) Heater Energized (-40°C)(-40°F)

• SWITCHES: All models have four colour coded switches. Two for travel adjustment, and two for auxiliary switches.

OPTIONAL FEATURES

• MODULATING CONTROL BOARD The input and output signals can be selected by adjusting the DIP switches on the control board. Input Selection - 4-20MA, 1-5V, 2-10V Output Selection - 2-10V, 4-20MA Valve fail position can be selected by adjusting the dip switches on the control board to fail on loss of signal to: (A) FAIL CLOSE (B) FAIL OPEN (C) FAIL IN LAST PLACE

• FEEDBACK POTENTIOMETER: 1K or 5K OHM feedback signal.

• CURRENT POSITION TRANSMITTER: 4-20MA output signal for position indication

• LOCAL CONTROL UNIT: Local/Remote selection switches, OPEN/OFF/CLOSE selection.

• VOLTAGE OPTIONS

• TORQUE SWITCHES: Adjustable cam activated torque switches to provide over-load protection.

Actuators are available in various voltages: 12 and 24VDC 12 and 24VAC 220 AC Single Phase 220, 380 and 440 VAC 3 Phase.

THE TRAVEL CAMS ARE SET TO CONTROL THE OPEN AND CLOSED POSITION OF THE VALVE. THEPOSITION IS SET TO STOP THE TRAVEL OF THE ACTUATOR WHEN THE TRAVEL CAMS ACTIVATETHE LIMIT SWITCH.

STANDARD IS TWO LIMIT SWITCHES, ONE FOR OPEN, ONE FOR CLOSED. THE BOTTOM LIMITSWITCH IS NORMALLY THE OPEN POSITION (FULL CCW). THE TOP LIMIT SWITCH IS NORMALLYTHE CLOSED POSITION (FULL CW).

2-AUXILIARY SWITCHES ARE STANDARD AND ARE SET INDEPENDENT OF THE TWO PRIMARYCONTROL LIMIT SWITCHES.

THE TRAVEL CAMS CAN BE ADJUSTED BY 2.5mm HEX SPANNER.

THE TRAVEL CAMS ARE SET TO CONTROL THE OPEN AND CLOSED POSITION OF THE VALVE. THEPOSITION IS SET TO STOP THE TRAVEL OF THE ACTUATOR WHEN THE TRAVEL CAMS ACTIVATETHE LIMIT SWITCH.

STANDARD IS TWO LIMIT SWITCHES, ONE FOR OPEN, ONE FOR CLOSED. THE BOTTOM LIMITSWITCH IS NORMALLY THE OPEN POSITION (FULL CCW). THE TOP LIMIT SWITCH IS NORMALLYTHE CLOSED POSITION (FULL CW).

IF ADJUSTMENT IS REQUIRED, IT MUST BE DONE IN THE FOLLOWING ORDER:

1 TURN THE OPEN AND CLOSE STOPS COUNTERCLOCKWISE APPROXIMATELY ONE FULL TURN.

2 MANUALLY CLOSE THE ACTUATOR TO THE DESIRED POSITION AND SET THE CLOSE TRAVELCAM (REFER TO BULLETIN OME-115 FOR MODEL OM-1 AND BULLETIN OME-116 FOR MODELOM-2 THROUGH 12)

3 TURN THE CLOSE MECHANICAL TRAVEL STOP CLOCKWISE UNTIL IT CONTACTS THE GEARSEGMENT. REVERSE THE TRAVEL STOP ONE FULL TURN AND SET THE JAM NUT.

4 FOLLOW STEPS 2 & 3 FOR SETTING THE OPEN STOP.

CAUTION: THE ELECTRIC TRAVEL STOPS MUST BE SET AHEAD OF THE MECHANICAL STOPS ORDAMAGE TO THE GEARS WILL OCCUR.

SW 2: 1, 2, 3 - 0 Sensitivity switch:

When to switch to “1” : The highest sensitivity and the 0-90° can be divided up to around 50 times movement.

When switch to “0” : The lowest sensitivity and the 0-90° can be divided up to around 10 times movement.

The sensitivity decreases 7 times movement by sectors from SW 1 to SW 2, SW2 to SW 3,SW 3 to

SW 4 and so on.

SETTINGS FOR OPEN AND CLOSE ( FOR 0M 2 - OM 13 )

The settings are set in factory, though in some cases re-set may be requred when a particular rate of

signal is requested

OPEN SETTING

a) Keep pressing “SET” for 2 seconds, until LED 9 comes on, it will enter the manual mode.

b) Keep pressing “UP” and let the actuator run to fully-open position, LED 2 comes on, then apply

input signal ( 5V or 10V or 20mA)

c) Press “MODE” once. The “OPEN” setting is complete.

CLOSE SETTING

a) Keep pressing “DOWN” let the actuator run to fully-closed position, LED 1 comes on, then apply

input signal ( 1V or 2V or 4mA).

b) Press “MODE” once. The CLOSE” setting is complete.

After completing the above settings, press “SET” once.

ADJUSTMENT - MODULATING CONTROL BOARD

LAMP SIGNAL ( FOR OM 2 - OM 13 )

LED1: When actuator is fully-closed, LED1 comes ON.LED2: When actuator is fully-open, LED2 comes ON.

LED3: When you open the power of the actuator, LED3 comes ON.LED4: When the wrong power supply is applied to the actuator, LED4 comes ON.LED5: When the wrong signal type is applied to the actuator, LED5 comes ON.LED6: When the motor thermostat opens (over-heating), LED6 comes ON.LED7: When the output signal is short-circuited, LED7 comes ON.LED8: When the motor current is excessive, LED8 comes ON.LED9: When the actuator is operated manually, LED9 comes ON

If the LED is flashing after the operating check is complete, refer to the following.

Lamp Possibilities Solution

NO LAMP a) No power supply

b) The voltage is over 260V and caused the

board to burn out.

c) Wrong connection for the # 8, #9 of the

VR.

a) Check the power supply.

b) Check the voltage.

c) Check the wiring.

LED 5 a) Setting in 2-10V input signal but supply 4-

20mA. ( LED 5 —- ON )

b) Setting in 2-10V input signal and the sig-

nal is over 13.5V ( LED 5 —-ON )** Setting in 4-20mA but supply 2-10V signal. Theactuator will operate by 2-7V. But if the signal over7.2V the LED 5 will turn on.

Confirm the input signal.

LED 6 Motor thermostat turned off. Too high frequency for rated duty cycle.

LED 7 Output signal short circuit a) Confirm the wiring of output signal # 11(-)-#12 (+).

b) Whether # 11 & # 12 output signal short circuit

LED 2, LED 7 Incorrect wiring for 2-10V output signal. Confirm the wiring of output signal # 6 (-) - # 7 (+).

LED 8 Motor current is excessive. Too high frequency for rated duty cycle.

LED 9 Manual mode- Setting position for open &

close.

After completing the settings, press “SET” once.

Use hand - wheel for test or replace valve seat

Check if any foreign objects in flow stream Check for obstructions

Broken motor stem or bearing Replace with new parts

THE ACTUATOR IS OPERATINGBUT MOTOR IS HOT

Starting the actuator too frequently. ( too high frequency

for rated duty cycle)

Change system bandwidth or replace to a higher duty

cycle actuator.

Overload This situation often happens after operating for a long

time. It is suggested to replace the valve.

Under or over requested voltage. Check the supply circuit.

The gear jams the mechanical stops in fully-open or

closed position.

Reset the mechanical stops and limit switches
