Reel Solutions presents…
A Tribute To Eric PortmanTickets: £5 per film, £20 for the season
Halifax born Eric Portman
(1901-69) was one of the great
British movie idols of the 1940s.
Throughout the war years and
beyond Portman was a formidable
actor, equally at home playing
heroes and villains. Several of his
movies are worthy of revival as we
remind modern audiences of the
power and importance of a star
who shone so brightly, so briefly.

Hirth (Portman), stumble through the wilderness

America. Eric Portman’s breakthrough movie is a prime slice
of ‘40s propaganda with an all-star
cast that also includes Laurence Olivier,
Leslie Howard & Raymond Massey.

Earnshaw as he offers a reconsideration of the work of
Eric Portman, his Halifax roots,
