Case Study of Village Dobahi

This village is situated at about 12kms from the central Naugarh. Even today these people live between hills and travel on foot to reach their place. It is a very difficult passage. If someone falls sick, it is a huge difficult task to rush and get the patient to nearby hospital. This place is surrounded by water on 3 sides and one side is surrounded by hills. There are 14 Kharvar and 1 Lohar families. Main occupation is farming , animal rearing, forestry, labor, etc. In this village, with help of Asha-SV, VARUN has been working to spread education here from past 6 years. Apart from education, VARUN has been working in the fields of women empowerment, farming, self-help, farming clubs, MNREGA, RTI, gender, etc by giving information in these areas and enlightening them. Keeping in mind the welcoming nature of people, Sachiv and Saroj farming club along with teachers and guardians had a meeting and together with help of Shri Pyarelal (coordinator of Saroj farming club), Mr.Bhuvan Kumar (Teacher) villagers built a 4.7km road through the hilly regions, breaking down the rocks, etc. It took 35 days and the road was completed on 29th of October 2011. Today, even car can go to this village. After construction of this road, people are able to travel more easily. In this noble work there were many people who took part like, Shri.Shankar, Rameshwar, Phulchand, Rajnath, Rajendra, Lalmani, Harihar, Nandlal, Mahabir, Gopinath, Mahendra, Raju, Doodhnath, Bachchelan, Gulabi, Devi, Ramrai Devi, Malati Devi, etc.

Proposal for Summer Camp

Form 5th to 11th June, 2012 VARUN is planning to organize a summer camp and there are arrangements underway. We would want to request support from Asha and other organizations to get this going. We are making arrangements for 80 people. If arrangements for incoming students’ necessities are made, then plan for this camp could be communicated to the respective students ahead of time.
