Happy Father’s Day! I know all you dads really look forward to this day! Today you might get to do anything you want - whether it is to watch or play golf all day, cook or eat your favorite foods, stain the deck, wash the car, or just plain take it easy and rest all day! Maybe you won’t have to wash the dishes or take out the garbage today!! And just think, anything you ask of the kids today they will do without a whimper or whine!! What a great day for you! On this day, may you turn to St. Joseph and God and thank them for the blessings you have as a father. I hope that you also turn to them and ask them for the continued guidance and inspiration you need to be strong and effective in your vocation as a father. For all fathers we offer this prayer: God our Father, we praise you and bless you, for the life you have given us through your saving love, revealed in Jesus your Son. Through Christ you have revealed yourself as a loving father who provides for us all. Look with love upon our father and bless him with your love. Deepen his love for his wife and family and make us one in love with all your holy people as we proclaim your mighty deeds and sing your praises. We offer you praise and glory through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen. **This Friday we celebrate the founding of Our Lady Star of the Sea Parish 66 years ago. I know there are a few of you who are “founding” parishioners and can tell us a few stories of how the parish was “way back then.” Certainly there were not all the houses as there are now! Fr. Barton had a challenging task to go house to house and see who was Catholic and who wanted to be a part of this new parish. Not an easy task at all. God bless him and all his early associates and staff members who helped create and form this vibrant parish community. A solid foundation was laid which has helped this community ever since. The parish has weathered a few storms through its years and Our Lady has unceasingly guided it into safe harbor. We do not know what the future brings but we know we are in good hands and this community will continue to flourish…bringing others to Christ to live the love of God … and share that love with others. Thanks to all of you for all that you do to support the parish and its ministries and programs. God Bless you! May your week be full of blessings and joy. Msgr. Happy Father’s

Day! I know all you

dads really look

forward to this

day! Today you

might get to do

anything you want

- whether it is to watch or play golf all

day, cook or eat your favorite foods,

stain the deck, wash the car, or just

plain take it easy and rest all day!

Maybe you won’t have to wash the

dishes or take out the garbage

today!! And just think, anything you

ask of the kids today they will do

without a whimper or whine!! What a

great day for you!

On this day, may you turn to

St. Joseph and God and thank them

for the blessings you have as a father.

I hope that you also turn to them and

ask them for the continued guidance

and inspiration you need to be strong

and effective in your vocation as a

father. For all fathers we offer this

prayer:

God our Father, we praise you

and bless you, for the life you have

given us through your saving love,

revealed in Jesus your Son. Through

Christ you have revealed yourself as

a loving father who provides for us all.

Look with love upon our father

and bless him with your love. Deepen

his love for his wife and family and

make us one in love with all your holy

people as we proclaim your mighty

deeds and sing your praises.

We offer you praise and glory

through Jesus Christ our Lord.

Amen.

**This Friday we celebrate the

founding of Our Lady Star of the Sea

Parish 66 years ago. I know there are

a few of you who are “founding”

parishioners and can tell us a few

stories of how the parish was “way

back then.” Certainly there were not

all the houses as there are now!

Fr. Barton had a challenging task to

go house to house and see who was

Catholic and who wanted to be a

part of this new parish. Not an easy

task at all. God bless him and all his

early associates and staff members

who helped create and form this

vibrant parish community. A solid

foundation was laid which has

helped this community ever since.

The parish has weathered a few

storms through its years and Our Lady

has unceasingly guided it into safe

harbor. We do not know what the

future brings but we know we are in

good hands and this community will

continue to flourish…bringing others

to Christ to live the love of God …

and share that love with others.

Thanks to all of you for all that you do

to support the parish and its ministries

and programs. God Bless you!

May your week be full of

blessings and joy.

Servant of God, Nicholas Black Elk Premiers

Sunday, June 21, 2020

A film on Nicholas Black Elk, the Lakota holy man and candidate for

sainthood, that will be airing in Detroit Sunday, June 21 at 1:00 PM on

WXYZ. "Walking the Good Red Road: Nicholas Black Elk's Journey to

Sainthood" was funded by the Catholic Communication Campaign

of the USCCB and is a rare opportunity for

Catholic programming in a mainstream media

outlet. Even more importantly, the film is an

intriguing portrait of a Native Catholic whose

witness speaks to the many injustices and societal

divisions that we face in North America.

Reporting Sexual Misconduct Involving Bishops

The Catholic Bishop Abuse Reporting Service (CBAR) has been

established to receive reports of sexual abuse and related misconduct by bishops,

and to relay those reports to proper Church authorities for investigation. In the

Archdiocese of Detroit, as in all U.S. dioceses, an independent, third-party entity

provides secure, confidential intake services. Individuals may go to

ReportBishopAbuse.org or call (800) 276-1562 to make a report.

Information on reporting sexual abuse and related misconduct by

archdiocesan priests, deacons or other church representatives is available at

protect.aod.org. In all cases, victims of sexual abuse are urged to contact law

enforcement.

Archbishop's Gala

The 2020 Archbishop's Gala will now be a virtual event on Friday,

June 26. As they say, the show must go on and, you only turn 100

once! While none of us thought we’d close our centennial year

virtually – it is the celebration God has given us. Please visit

archbishopsgala.com for more information.
