Las Vegas’ Only By-Request Band—Acoustic Soul brings a sizzling interactive show to audiences in any venue. The press has called them “A cover band on steroids!” and “...the cover band to the stars.” (The latter referring to a smattering of celebs that stop in to place their requests on occasion.)

With a core group of musicians that include a dynamic lead singer, rock violinist, Grammy-award winning drummer, and versatile keyboardist, Acoustic Soul is a virtual jukebox of live music, with hundreds of songs

masterfully mixed in one show— Folk, Rock, Country, Oldies, Top 40, R&B, Rap, Hip Hop, Reggae, Classic Rock, Blues, and more.

While the band can deliver a hot

set-list perfect for any event or

space, the band’s claim to fame is

their unique all-request concept

that gives the power to the

people to select the music they

want to hear. Their unique sound

and creative arrangements have

audiences on their feet begging

for more!

Interactive —Keeping Audiences Happy and in Your Venue Their shows are different every time, based on the crowd’s requests. The audience is as much a part of the Acoustic Soul experience as the musicians themselves—singing along, shouting out requests, dancing, and partying with the band—creating an interactive atmosphere that keeps everyone involved and entertained. Perfect for clubs, showrooms, bars, and lounges that need to maximize their revenue--the band keeps the audience there for hours! And Acoustic Soul’s entertaining shows have audiences coming back week after week.

Exceptional Musicians —What really sets this band apart from all the rest isn’t just the remarkable range of work covered or their approach to the music, but the surprising talent each performer brings to the stage. No wonder Acoustic Soul is the band everyone is talking about!

Hal SavarFounder, Lead Vocalist,

Acoustic GuitarFrontman and soulful singer Hal Savar picked up an old dusty guitar in Ohio and began teaching himself to play as a teen. By the time Savar was 18, he had been the founder and lead singer for three cover bands. Back to Memphis, Purple Horizon, and Prophet—which played for Boston’s leading Classic Rock station WROR 105.7. After high school, Hal began writing his original music to critical acclaim. In 2002, Hal left Boston to start a new life as a solo artist in Las Vegas. Recording his first professional self-titled CD, his CD release show was at The Palms. His work gained the attention of industry giants including Rick Springfield, John Oates, Glenn Frye, Michael Eisner, Quincy Jones, and Kool and The Gang’s founding member Amir Bayyan formerly know as Robert “the Kool” Bell. In addition to recruiting themusical talent for Acoustic Soul,Savar also arranges the music and fronts the band. Savar’s raw unbridled energy, and powerful voice, along with his musical style bring audiences to their feet!

Nina DiGregorioRock Violin, Bass,

Harmonica, Vocalist Small but mighty rock violinist, Nina DiGregorio, began her musical studies at age 6 playing piano, and later studying the violin and guitar. PercussionGrammy Award winning drummer Lanise Hughes—the celebrity of the group—keeps the beats steady for Acoustic Soul. It’s fitting for this band to have a drummer who helped shape music history. Lanise got his start in the music business, recording, touring, and playing with Rick James and the Stone City Band. “Super Freak” and “Give It To Me Baby,” are driven by Lanise’s signature drum rhythms. Lanise went on to electrify crowds with Bobby Brown, The Mary Jane Girls. Teena Marie, and The Temptations. In addition he has several Gold and Platinum Album credits including: “Bustin Out Of L Seven”-Platinum-1979; “Fire lt Up”-Gold-1980; “Garden Of Love”-Gold-1980; “Street Songs”-Triple Platinum-1981; “Throwin Down”-Gold-1982; “Reflections”-Gold-1984; “Street Songs Deluxe Edition”-Live Concert-2001. THEY’RE TAKING REQUESTS AT THE RAINBOW! * * *

LAS VEGAS’ LATEST SENSATION ACOUSTIC SOUL —BELOVED BY THEIR LEGIONS OF FANS AS A “COVER BAND ON STEROIDS”— TAKES OVER THE

RAINBOW BAR & GRILL ON TUESDAY NIGHTS WITH NON-STOP FOUR HOUR SETS BEGINNING AT 10 P.M.

* * * The Foursome With Three Acoustic Guitarists And A Drummer Consider Themselves An Acoustic Jukebox, Letting The Audience Custom-Pick Tunes From A Set List That Includes Classic Rock, Country, Blues, Rap, R&B, Hip-Hop, Oldies Folk, Bluegrass…

And Anything Else They Like

As if Rainbow Bar & Grill wasn’t colorful enough, it’s now playing host on Tuesday nights to Las Vegas’ latest and craziest musical sensation…a Cover Band? Well, more like a cover band on steroids, playing nonstop from 10 p.m. to 2 a.m. with no—we repeat, no—bar or bathroom breaks. Acoustic Soul , featuring three killer acoustic guitarists and a powerful drummer—all of whom sing lead—is proud to bill themselves as a live jukebox, building their entire four hour set around audience requests. Hal Savar, Jeremiah Vaught, Karl Henricksen and drummer Paul Campanella are only in their early 20s, but their encyclopedic knowledge of music knows no bounds. Your pleasure is theirs: classic rock, country, blues, rap, R&B,

hip-hop, oldies, folk, bluegrass, you name it, they’ll play it. And if they don’t already know it, they’ll go for it by ear and make it up on the spot. Savar says, “If we know it, we’ll play it, if we sort of know it, we’ll fake it, and if we don’t know it at all,

ACOUSTIC SOUL PR

we’ll still smile and accept your money. Our set list is always expanding because our fans have diverse tastes, but we love being unique and getting the audience involved. No other band will play what they want to hear, when they want to hear it.”

Nobody’s ever played your favorite songs like this before. Working by request, they’ll put “Remix To Ignition” by R. Kelly in the middle of “My Girl.” Throw “Baby Got Back” into “Sweet Home Alabama” for the ultimate Southern Rock-rapfest. Then there’s that cool free for all concoction of “The Joker,” “Here I Go Again,” “Angel” by Shaggy, “Wild Thing,” “Hang On Sloopy, a couple of Weezer snippets, Sublime’s “What I Got” and “Feel Like Making Love.” Rainbow Bar & Grill Director of Operations Steve Rothman says, “I guess what it is, is that the audience picks the songs and these guys can play it and sound just like the original band or singer. The Acoustic Soul guys are great. They look like hillbillies, but can play and sing. They are amazing.” The most incredible part of the buzz gathering around these Tuesday night jams is that the current Acoustic Soul lineup has only been together a handful of months. But what eventful months they’ve been. A year ago, Savar was playing original material in a band and not making any real money. Inspired by the successful dueling pianos concept taking place at various casinos on the Strip—“people were tipping them to play snippets of their favorite songs, but they were mediocre at best,” Savar says—Savar called his old pal Vaught to move from Washington State to Vegas.

The Cover Band on Steroids

What began as a “dueling guitars” band quickly evolved into the more unique Acoustic Soul concept founded on the notion of being “the anti casino band.” Their first gig was the Bunkhouse Saloon on Fremont Street, and soon the group—which eventually added two other members—was playing the Emergency Room, Mickie Finns, and other funky local venues. In October, Acoustic Soul brought the house down one night during the Rainbow Bar & Grill’s Rock the Rainbow competition, and Rothman and his crew decided to give them a shot. They made their debut on the Saturday before Halloween and started their regular Tuesday night gig on November 7. “When the Rainbow first opened,” Savar says, “I came in and loved it but I felt it needed some good live music, and we’re really excited about the opportunity to be part of that experience now. Everyone who comes to Vegas wants to check out something that’s different from every other show they’ve seen. You could come and see a thousand bands, but Acoustic Soul is the one that gives the audience a chance to create the show.”

Last Thursday night, my buddy, Keith Leon, Author and Relationship Coach, and I went out on the town inLas and stumbled into a local bar, and had the pleasure of seeing one of Vegas` --

Savar and his band have a repertoire of more than 300 , and they play for four hours straight!

The show was amazing! But, more impressive than the energy-filled, four straight hours, was Savarhimself. He`s a stocky kid with good looks, a personality, a quick wit and connects with an audience like noother. He kept people dancing, applauding and laughing for the entire night. Between songs, andoccasionally during, with that quick wit, had people cracking up, and chicks jumping up to have their phototaken with him. Wish I knew how to sing. LOL. The attention he garnered would make any critic think thatthis kid was an International Rock Star!

The way Savar`s juke box works is that show-goers fill out their song request on a sticky note and toss afew bucks into the bucket. He has someone keep track of the requests so they are all played and played inorder of the request. I learned that Savar also has a self-titled freshman album (CD) by some of hisfollowers, perhaps "groupies" is more apt, who request of some of his original music. Whether playingcover tunes or his original music, this kid`s a major hit. He`s what I call a top Vegas performer-- "Famous inVegas!"

Later in the evening I was chatting with one of the bar managers, and he said that whenever Savarperforms, the bar revenue increases by at least 100%, and always more than any other band they book.So I asked why he didn`t book Savar five night a week, and he said he`s tried; but, the kid performs six toseven nights throughout town.

If you`re ever in Las Vegas, and want to see one hell of a rockin`-ass show, find out where you can catch

35Excerpt from 944 Magazine

Standing off to the side in the busy Suncoast Casino in Las Vegas, Hal Savar does not look like your typical rock star. He doesn’t have spiked hair, leather cuffs, or even the “I don’t care” swagger that most of today’s rockers have perfected. No, Hal looks more like your everyday Joe: blue collared shirt, black slacks, and a worn out pair of Adidas. Just as his look goes against the MTV norm, so does his music. With a unique style that blends folk rock blues and pop, this dynamic musician is quickly converting fans to his distinct sound.

“I get compared a lot to Dave Mathews and John Mayer. I don’t think I sound anything like them… definitely different, I have more of a rock edge,” declares the 21 year old Vegas musician. Crediting a diverse range of influences such as Led Zeppelin, the Red Hot Chili Peppers, and Elvis Presley, Hal has been making music since he first taught himself to play guitar at the age of 16. “My mom thought it was a phase that I would grow out of,” laughs the musician, “but after a while she started to get a little nervous. She was like uh-oh, but it’s worked out so far.”

And worked out it has. Hal has just completed recording his first record and will start a new tour this coming February. The record features 8 tracks that show every side of the singer/songwriter from start to finish. Most notable is the high-energy “Rock Star,” which voices the dream of superstardom in the music industry. With an easy to grasp hook, “So you wanna be a Rock Star/ Live in a big house/ Have a fancy car/ And admiration/ A million fans around the world,” the song is extremely addictive and radio-ready. “People were singing along within the first five minutes,” proclaims Hal of the first time he played the song live.

While “Rock Star” tells Hal’s goals of “blowing up on MTV” and being “bigger than Eminem,” the slow grooving love song, “I Think of You,” shows he loves to impress the ladies. “The song is about a girl that I had a thing for and I really liked, but I hadn’t told her,” confesses Hal. Well, she’ll know about it for sure now. The simplistic confessional tune also sounds like a radio jam waiting to be put into rotation. With no drums on this track the heartfelt lyrics really stand out, “And I can’t sleep at night/ Floating onto daylight/ And I wonder if you only knew/ Just how much I think of you.”

Don’t think that this guy is only bringing you pop friendly hits. Hal proves that he can bring it rougher with “The End.” The hard-riffed guitar makes you want to bob your head and Hal’s over the edge vocals get the rest of your body into the groove. Hal tells, “That’s the only song out of about 250 songs I’ve writ-ten that I wrote in the middle of an emotionally stressful situation. For the most part when I’m writing a song, I’m writing in retrospect. So I have time to look back on it…I had a lot of anger.” That anger can be felt intensely and gives the record a nice change of pace.

Changing things up is something that Hal is used to having grown up a true Air Force brat. Hal has lived in a number of places including Boston, Philadelphia, Tampa, and even Beaver Creek, Ohio. That childhood moving will be well remembered as Hal begins roaming the country again in early 2004. The musician becomes an entertainer when it comes to live performances. “ I’m feeling what I’m singing to the point that I’m in the frame of mind that I was in when I wrote the song,” says Hal, “I’m having a blast.” Not only will he play his own songs with emotion, but he can take it back to the old school with classics such as “Let’s Get It On.” “That’s some pimpin’ stuff,” Hal laughs. Whether he’s playing is own music or an updated cover it’s sure to be good.
