HadithHadith“ Whoever relieves a believer’s

distress of the distressful aspects of this world, Allah will rescue him from a difficulty of the difficulties of the Hereafter. Whoever alleviates [the situation of] one in dire straits who cannot repay his debt, Allah will alleviate his lot in both this world and in the Hereafter. Allah is helping the servant as long as the servant is helping his brother.”

Saying of Hadrat Abu Bakr Saying of Hadrat Abu Bakr (R)(R)Hadrat Abu Bakr (R) said: There

are 2 types of Zakat. One is Zakat of wealth. The other is Zakat of the body.

There is a debt due on the body.

Saying of Hadrat Abu Bakr Saying of Hadrat Abu Bakr (R)(R)Body’s Zakat

◦To serve others with your physical body

◦To make other’s misfortune one’s own (remove someone else’s difficulty by taking it off their back and put it on your back)

Serving OthersServing OthersMost people today are absorbed

in their own problems and want everyone to listen to their problems

They want you to hear how their boss doesn’t treat them well, how that person said this about them, how they are struggling to make end’s meet.

Serving OthersServing OthersWhen we hear someone is in a

difficult situation, we hope they don’t ask us for money. Then we have to give some money or what will they say about us.

We don’t want to be asked to help someone

We should actually looking for ways to help others, serve others

Serving Others – ExampleServing Others – ExamplePeople heard a noise in the

distance as a storm was coming. They worried and finally decided to send someone to check it out. As that person started to leave, people saw a light in the distance. They watched the light get closer and closer.

Serving Others – ExampleServing Others – ExampleFinally saw it was the Prophet

(SAW) coming holding a lantern. They asked what he was doing. He said he went to check the noise. It was alright, everything was fine. He had already checked, while everyone was still thinking about going to check it.

Serving OthersServing OthersThis is an example of how the

Prophet (S) served his others, served his community, served his Ummah.

Hadith – Serving Others is Hadith – Serving Others is CharityCharity“Every small bone of everyone has upon

it a charitable act for everyday upon which the sun rises. Bringing about justice between two is an act of charity. Helping a man get on his mount, lifting him onto it or helping him put his belongings onto it, is a charitable act. A good word is a charitable act. Every step you take toward the prayer is a charitable act. And removing a harmful thing from the path is a charitable act.”
