Ive never seen a photo, a video,a marble bust, or so much as a rock etching to show what Jesus really lookedlike.

Yet I have no doubt that Jesus lived, and that He is the Son o God (John20:3031). I rmly believe that He isin heaven and that He will come back one day (Acts 1:911; John 14:12). No vision o Him is necessary right now.

We do not need to see Him in order tobelieve in Him. We walk by faith, notby sight (2 Corinthians 5:7). Faith isthe substance of things hoped for, theevidence o things not seen (Hebrews11:1).

We do not need to see Him in ordto be blessed by Him: Blessed arethey that have not seen, and yet havebelieved (John 20:29).

We do not need to see Him in oto love Him: Whom having not seeye love (1 Peter 1:8).But I still want to see Him!

e Bible promises that one day wewill. John wrote, Behold, he comethwith clouds; and every eye shall seehim (Revelation 1:7). Not only willChristians see Him, but we will get toremain in His presence! And so shallwe ever be with the Lord. Whereforecom ort one another with these words(1 Tessalonians 4:1318). >>

Tose are words that Jehovahspoke to Satan (Job 1:8). God wenton to tell him that Job was unique, complete, upright, eared God, andwas one who shunned evil. Tat isquite a commendation rom the Onewho knows every single thing there isto know about aperson.

Most Biblestudents arequite amiliarwith the tragiccircumstancesthat beset Job andhis amily. Jobsstead astness andpatience havebeen renownedworldwidethroughout theages. But here arethree importantthings about Job asa ather, and these

things are seenbe ore his childrenand livestock weretaken rom him.

As a ather,Job showed his children that his rstdevotion was to God Almighty, notmaterial things. Possessing thousandso head o livestock helped make Jobthe greatest of all the men of the east(Job 1:3). Yet, as we noted above, theLord God still referred to Job as my

servant (Job 1:8). Job did not allow hisstuf to crowd out, hinder, or diminishhis devotion to the God o heaven.Dads, what do your children see as yournumber one commitment: stu , or God?Believe me, they can tell what is numberone without your saying a word!

As a ather, Job recognized that hischildren made mistakes. Job oferedburnt oferings on behal o his grownchildren, saying, It may be that my sons

Job?have sinned, and cursed God in theirhearts (Job 1:5). Tere are some atherswho never seem to have anything goodto say about their children, and they seldom, i ever, give them any supportand positive exhortation. On the otherhand, some dads are blind. Tey are

convinced thattheir little Maryand Billy, Jr.could never doanything wrong, ever. Tey wouldnever be deceptive, never be sel sh,and never bedisrespect ul.Tere are many great childrenin the world, but no one isper ect. Dadsneed to accept thetruth that all sin(Romans 3:23).

    Job admitted thatabout his ownchildren.

    As a ather,Job showed his

concern or the spiritual wel are o hischildren. It was on their behal that herose up early and ofered burnt oferingsto God. Dont you know that it makes achild, regardless o whether he is ve or

y, swell up with delight to hear andsee that his daddy is doing something

for his spiritual bene t! Dads, there ismore to being a dad than putting oodon the table and showing a child howto hit, throw, or kick a ball. Te numberone task o athers is to bring up theirchildren in the Lords nurture andadmonition (Ephesians 6:4).

We will always remember Jobsendurance. But lets not forget what thBible also shows us about him as a fbe ore disaster struck his li e.
