4th Sunday of Easter; World Day of Prayer for Vocations; Earth Day
I love the Easter season. We have the opportunity to
celebrate and rejoice that Jesus has risen from the
dead, thus making eternal life possible for us. What an
amazing gift we have been given! But we also listen to
the stories of the early Church in the Acts of the
Apostles. Last week we heard that the community of
believers was of one mind and one heart, uniting them
in their common mission to make the Risen Lord known
to others. In the upcoming weeks we will hear stories
about Peter and John healing the infirmed and
baptizing thousands. Not having any gold or silver,
these disciples know they had only one thing to offer
the people they met: their faith. As they shared their
faith with countless others, people begin to meet Jesus
through them. People begin to hunger for the life and
hope that comes from faith in Jesus. As disciples of
Jesus in 2018, you and I are called to imitate Peter and
John by sharing our faith with others. What does the
resurrection of Jesus mean to you? Are you willing to
share that meaning with other members of your family?
With people in your neighborhood? With people at
work or at school? It can be done with your words or
with your deeds. Let us boldly proclaim to the world
that Jesus’ death and resurrection does make a
difference in our lives…..and we are proud to share that
difference with others.
