    Location and Description

The Avionics Compartment Access Door is installed on the Nose Lower Unit of the section 11/12 (pressurized area). It is located between FR12 and FR14 andbetween STR59 to STR65 LH

The door opens up inside the fuselage and provides access to the avionics compartment. The door can be opened from the inside or from the outside of the aircraft.

A latching mechanism keeps the door in the closed and latched position. A compensating mechanism reduces the force which is necessary to operate the door andmaintained the door in the open position.

    Door Structure

The Avionics Compartment Access Door structure includes:

    - a bended skin made from aluminium alloy CLAD 2024 T3,

    - 2 machined beams made from aluminium alloy 7175 T7351,

    - 4 bended frames made from aluminium alloy CLAD 2024 T42,

    - 2 machined frames made from aluminium alloy 7175 T7351,

    - 2 strips skin made from aluminium alloy CLAD 2024 T42,

    - 6 finger plates made from aluminium alloy CLAD 2024 T42,

    - 2 splices made from aluminium alloy CLAD 2024 T42.

Rivets universal head are used to assembly the primary structure. The door structure forms compartments for the installation of the latching mechanism. A guardcovers the latching mechanism. FINGER PLATE

    Door Seal

A round seal made from elastomer provides an aircraft pressurisation seal. Retainers and screws attach the seal to the door structure. The seal makes the avionicscompartment pressure-tight and prevents the penetration of water.

Door FittingsFour door stop fittings made from titanium alloy Ti6AI6-4V transfer the load pressure to the fuselage and allow to adjust the door flush with the fuselage skin.

    CORROSION PREVENTION

Nose fuselage is divided into different areas, according to environmentalconditions.

    - Category A Contact with air/condensation, easy accessible dryareas

    - Category B Contact with fuel (included pipes/pipe areas)

Category C Area which can be contaminated by : hydraulicfluid, toilet or galley liquids, water, lubricants, etc

Area in which condensation forms and/or iscollected to a greater extend

    Areas of difficult access

Areas with a high risk of accidental damage

Category C is subdivided into :

    - Cat. C1 Areas in contact with water, moisture andoccasional exposure to other liquids and/or areaswith a high risk of accidental damage

    - Cat. C2-1 Areas in contact with water, moisture and frequentexposure to other liquids

    - Cat. C2-2 Areas in which water, moisture and other liquids

can collect and areas of difficult access

    TEMPORARY PROTECTIVE SYSTEMS (TPS)

Water repellent fluids (WRF) and/or corrosion inhibitors (CI) shall be applied in areas which are very humid and where water may collect. TPS type III material(Socopac 65H or ARDROX AV15) shall be applied. In Mechanism area TPS Type I is applied instead of type III

The purpose is to reduce the risk of liquid penetration into small gaps, cracks in paint around fasteners etc. and to supply an additional protection required by someairlines. To maintain this protection, repetitive application in-service is required.

Temporary protection (Water repellent / Corrosion inhibitor) - AIMS 09-08-003
