Guwahati molestation and unethical face of Indian media

Some of us easily lose our temper on small things, some others often nd their

actions uncontrollable…But more signicantly, when the need comes, most of us

lose our ‘sense’; the sense of love, humane feelings, forgiveness, kindness, ustice

and a lot more, the basic fundamentals to which human sustainability rests upon! "ttimes we forget that human beings are social, and also, as is evident from history,

that we are interdependent on each other! Solitary living is rather impossible on this

planet! But all these feelings have been curbed by the dense weeds which have

accompanied human growth…the weeds of pride, ego, money, selshness, lu#ury

and fear, the weights of which we never feel wrong to carry with us all the time, the

weights which we never reali$e are blocking our view towards the right!

"nd what else portrays this better than our own %ndian media& 'hey show us the

wrong when they ought to correct it at the same time, enormously more because

they can, than they should! "nd the issue is not small enough to be ignored now,

because it’s not limited to cases of kidnapping, spanking, ragging etc! but hase#tended to simply video(shooting cum telecasting of a girl being publicly molested!

'en people assaulting a girl and a score of others watching her, with a couple of

cameras being focused alongside had been a scene of a B()rade movie unless it

was brought down to %ndian streets in )uwahati on a certain evening! *eople were

standing with their hands folded, showing naive faces to each other, ignoring the

loud moans of the girl and those who could hear, found their hands fro$en in fear of

being involved in police investigations or may be beaten up themselves…and after

all the victim stood not even a distant kin of theirs to be e#tended a helping hand!

But guess why not this thought struck their skulls every time they pledged before

the motherland to safeguard brotherhood and ustice!

+ow the more important issue is of the media! 'he camera people present at the

situation were perhaps triggering the incident! %t makes absolutely no sense

catching the wrong doings instead of catching legs of the wrong doers when you

absolutely can! 'he cameraman and the reporters were supposed to shoot the

camera on their heads instead of letting the whole of the incident telecasted on the

idiot bo#es! 'he media people if keep the ability to report the incidents well; with

words which can actually convince the mass around, then they should use it with

some sense! Say, by instantly collecting worthy evidences and reporting it to

nearest authorities concerned; or, at least arousing the group of dumb onlookers

around to stop the whole episode!

+o such incident can ever take place if the people start reali$ing their duties and

responsibilities for the country and country(people instead of letting it suppressed

by fear and selshness! ne need not be somebody’s blood every time to hold him

in danger! *eople are connected to each other more by feelings and thoughts which

has probably lost its strength in the era of mms scandals!

%n light of above events, talking about power is e-ually necessary! *ower is earned

and not bought and more accurately it’s achieved and not con-uered at least when

kingship has almost died! But sadly what happens is not what it should! .orruption

leaves the deserving on the roads torn out to nothing and hands over the sword of

ustice to the blind to use it for killing the faith in the people’s heart to death! /ad it

not been so, the people of power would not have entered pubs to grope women andthings would not have been opened up for public entertainment via a few

irresponsible men with the useful gadgets! 'his is what we actually get to witness0

some people dragging the vulnerable species around who are desperately shouting

for help and the criminals shouting to the world that this is the way, the way we

play& "nd the media personals around dumbly accepting it as words of wisdom and

showing it to the bigger world around!

'he even worse picture shows up when the camera is found focusing specically on

the victim instead of capturing faces who are watching her cry and the ones who

are making her moan! +ow what else shows that the media has gone blind enough

to ignore the cause1 'hey no more serve the medium between the crime and ustice

but have gone far way up, still ethically down, to business, business and business&&

2hen they are supposed to enlighten people of such incidents, some possible

precautions, collect evidences and help in investigation, they keep focusing on '3*s

and ads! /ow foolish it appears when we nd the ournalists sharing what’s in the

proles of some high prole actors, politicians or soap stars! "nd switching to their

purpose only when the crime occurs or more specically when it has occurred, that

too only till another one strikes the scene; because this is e#actly what is going to

    earn them bucks!

4edia can make many slumdogs, millionaires& +o doubt this is true, but what’s apen without ink& 2hat if the sugarcane ust serves the purpose of bamboo sticks&

4ahatma )andhi once said, 5'he one who tolerates crime does more wrong than

the ones who commits it6, but now people have slipped to using crime scenes for

adding gold into their pockets, so )andhii’s ideals should involve a share of crime,

perhaps a bigger one, for the ones who are using it, let alone participating or

    staying away from help…
