Artist Statement

Forms arise spontaneously and naturally from present circumstances. .refection, meditation, dreams and ritual openup dialogues with form bringing mind and heart back into balance.central to my artistic expression, is the

premise, that the art-making process is salutary in and of itself. I work with people with special needs and at the end-of-life.

Inspiration fell from the heavens for thissculpture.I was in our boat on the Hawkesbury river,mesmerised by the clouds and becameinspired by their beautiful shapes andmovement. The sculpture reaches for theheavens whilst reflecting the free form ofclouds.

hope transverses perfect skyexpectation rips through dormant wastelandeverything that had been done screamed ofwhat had not been done

we slept like clustered cloudsselecting occasions to awake fromor escape

pulsating, we pushed against the mountainpropelled by virtuous thoughts bursting throughdark crackspurpose created rainbows hiding the abyssdreams swept clean, leaving nothingactions bringing flight to our souls,or so we thought

it was the twighlight we fearednight brought shapeless thingsascending, we walked, pulled by distant criesdread twisting us like hollow roots pulling usundergroundwe became accustomed to thefeeling

we stared at our reflectionthe moon casts nothing in black waterwithout curiosity, void, vacantour hearts had lost the capacity to feel anythingbut exhaustion

yet i fightto rip through like a lunatic wind, to drive treesmad, to experience unendurable grief or thebeauty of creation..to fly in the face of life..on the other side of silence

ascent and sublimation, sacred questpinnacles of transcendence

do you think all life comes from the mountain?

sharp angles of red and gold evoke movement

the traveller follows the curve

the lonesome valley shadows the veil of tears

those on the way of the Tao, like water, accept

and although the mountain majestic

the soul finds home in deep valley

opening up like cupped hand
