Past Situation In Gujarat(before 15 years)• Heavy rainfall and flood destroy the standing crops
• Crops like sugarcane, Paddy, Jowar and Maize etc are affected due to heavy rain.
• The main crop of the state- groundnut and cotton are affected due to stress and resulted in lower production.
• Some part of the Gujarat is affected in coverage of irrigation due to less availability of irrigation water.
Till 2000, caught in swell of natural calamities, frequent draughts, and the agriculture sector had lost hopes. People cling to it, because they had no other option. With negative mindset, farmers remained attached to agriculture, facing hardships, bearing economic losses. They forgot that Agriculture is culture, it is also science, and combination of science and culture delivers desired results. The gains of Krushi Mahotsav are far more than any one can guess. On the auspicious day of Akhatrij, farmer begins his farming activities; Chief Minister launched Krushi Mahotsav to arm them with modern technology and scientific knowledge. Farmers have found the solutions that stand the test of logic and science.
