and we need YOUR help.

We aim to trample the current record of 1500 and create a display of 30,000 elephants, one to

represent each of the Asian elephants left in the wild (International Elephant Foundation, 2014).

So grab a piece of origami paper*, follow one of our templates link here and help us set a new

record.

Elephant:Difficulty

levelEasy

1. Start with a square of origami paper.

Fold it in half and open it back up.

2. Now fold it right to left and open back up.

3. Now fold the top left corner at an angle to

meet the centre crease.

4. Fold the paper in half – bringing the top edge

down to meet the bottom edge.

5. Now fold the left side to meet the centre

crease to form the trunk.

6. To make the ear, lift open the trunk and push out

the inside fold backwards to lie flat against the body,

as shown below.

7. Make a small fold backwards on the top right and

draw on the face to complete your elephant.

Medium

1. Take your square origami

paper and fold on both

diagonals. Crease well and

unfold.

2. Fold the top tip down to where

both diagonal creases meet.

Then fold the bottom tip up

slightly, approx. 1.5cm.

3. Fold both sides towards the

centre, creasing on the dotted

lines shown below

4. Now fold both sides out on the

shown dotted lines. You are folding

the ears of your elephant.

5. Flip the paper over. An

elephant head has emerged.

6. Fold up the trunk

7. Now fold it back down, allowing

some space between the

previous fold and this one

8. Repeat folding the trunk back

up and down like folding a fan

and release the fold

9. To finish the ears, make two

fold where indicated and your

elephant head is complete.
