GUIDELINES I will not be in the garden before sunrise or after sunset. I will have something planted in the garden by June 15th and keep it planted all summer. If I must abandon my plot for any reason, I will notify the United Way. I will keep weeds down and maintain the areas immediately surrounding my plot. I will not use non-organic fertilizers, insecti- cides or weed repellants. I will attempt to use sustainable gardening practices. I will plant tall crops only where they will not shade neighboring plots. I understand that if I do not maintain my plot, I will be given a one-week notice to clean it up. After two notices, I will be required to clean out and relinquish my plot. I will keep trash and litter cleaned from the plot, as well as from adjacent pathways and fences. I will pick only my own crops unless given per- mission by another plot user. I will not bring pets into the garden. I will participate in the fall cleanup of the garden. United Way of Jefferson & N. Walworth County,

in partnership with the City of Fort Atkinson,

is sponsoring the United Grove – the first

community garden in the city of Fort Atkinson.

United Grove is located between Maple and

Grove Streets, across from Jones Park. Our

mission is to promote locally grown produce to

improve food security, while treating the soil in

a sustainable way and encouraging coopera-

tive relations among its members.

THE GARDENS WILL PROVIDE OPPORTUNITIES TO:

•Growyourownproduceand/orflowers•Feedyourfamilyhealthyfoodforless•Learn sustainable gardening practices

from experienced gardeners•Share your knowledge and your bounty

with others

Plots will be available in 10 ́ X 10 ́ or 10 ́ X

20 ́sizes with walking paths between. United

Way will furnish the water supply, assistance

with tilling of plots, and soil amendments.

Donations are being solicited for shared tools,

hoses and other equipment. Local businesses

or individuals who financially donate to the

project through the United Way are eligible for

a tax deduction.
