Guidelines for writing about official EGEA matters

Name of EGEA

As EGEA Is registered under name EGEA Europe, you should always use this abbreviation with big letters: EGEA

Names of entities

- EGEA entities are officially registered in EGEA under a certain name that is sometimesnot the same as the official (international) name of their city.

Therefore be careful to ALWAYS use the name under which a certain entity is registered!

- Also when naming EGEAns (in some documents) please write in the brackets name of the ENTITY they belong to, not the city name (as again the names might differ and it’s good if the form of reporting stays the same)

Abbreviations

Lots of times we rather use abbreviations than write the complete name of some official group in EGEA, but for making it as much understandable as possible it’s good if these forms don’t differ too much (or at all) from those used in previous years.

So it’s recommended that you continue with forms that were already used before such as:FCCESC (Entity Support Committee)SCom or SciCom (Scientific Committee)WebCom (Website Committee)ActCom (Activities and Events Committee)OAC (Official Affairs Committee)SB (Statutory Base)SP (Strategic Plan)RA (Regional Assistant)CP (Contact Person)RCP (Regional Contact Person)

You will add some new ones when some new groups will be formed, but try to keep their forms the same throughout the year.

It is also recommended that when writing something on open forum or in minutes which includes names of the bodies or documents, you first write the WHOLE NAME of some body with the abbreviation in the brackets and then continue with the abbreviation (or however you would like to continue). Reason for that is the fact most of EGEAns DON’T KNOW what these abbreviation mean and it’s senseless if you write something that just super active EGEAns or those involved in these bodies understand :)

Always when writing something for EGEAns you should keep in mind that people just don’t know so much about EGEA as you do :) And keeping this in mind is not as easy as it maybe sounds ;)
