The Nightwatchman's secret. Come along and join nightwatchman Rudolf Streiff on his evening tour through the quiet streets and narrow lanes of the picturesque old part of Basel known as St. Alban-Vorstadt. On his way, he will tell you about the adventures, the long-past stories and the way of life in the olden days of the people of St. Alban-Tal. Basel by bicycle. Bicycles are an extremely popular mode of transport in Basel. What could be nicer than discovering the city by trusty push-bike? We will take you on a journey of discovery of a special kind. We start at the Swiss Railway Station (SBB) and wind along the St. Alban-Tal to the Grossbasel quarter of the city centre. The tour takes us past all of the most important sights of the city, down Spalenvorstadt to the Steinenberg and from there back to where we started from. Novartis Campus.With its first-class architecture and exquisite design, the St. Johann campus is being transformed into a modern work-place and new home of the pharmaceuticals company Novartis, to the benefit of the company itself, its employees and the city of Basel as a whole. On selected Saturdays you have the opportunity of visiting the campus with expert guidance around the facility by Novartis employees. The income generated from all tours is donated by Novartis to the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC).Duration: 2 hours

Cathedral.Discover the glorious Basel Cathedral (Münster), the most famous landmark of our city. Built on a hill overlooking the Rhine with red sandstone walls, colourful roof tiles and twin towers, no other building adorns the cityscape of Basel like the Cathedral. Discover the rich history and fabulous sculptures and artworks of this beautiful building.

City Hall. Basel's City Hall is a combination of fine architecture, art and politics. The splendid City Hall on Marktplatz is still the seat of the government of the canton of Basel-City. On our tour through the rooms of the canton's parliament and the Governing Council, we will inform you of the political history of the city and the current situation within the canton of Basel-Stadt.

Spalentor.Climb up the steep stairs of the mediaeval city gate Spalentor and discover one of the most famous landmarks of the city. The climb is well worth the effort and the views across the roof-tops of the Old Town are simply wonderful. A quick breather on each level gives you the opportunity to discover the city's defence works and the history of this splendid construction. Furthermore, the Spalentor also has the highest open-air toilet of Basel.Historical buildings.
