3WhatisSchoolMessenger/InfoCenterSchoolMessengerisarapidalert/notificationsystemusedbyMattawanConsolidatedSchool.Itallowsforparents,guardiansandstafftoreceiveinformationandnotificationsfromthedistrictusingdifferentcommunicationmethodsincludingtelephone,SMS(text),andemail.

InfoCenteristheportalusedforparents,guardiansandstafftomodifytheircommunicationpreferences.Wetendtoreferto“SchoolMessenger”and“InfoCenter”interchangeablybutInfoCenteristheactualproductprovidedbytheSchoolMessengercompany.

CommunicationExpectationsWithintheSchoolMessengersystemtherearethree(3)differenttypesofnotificationurgencies.ListedbelowarethedifferenttypesalongwithexamplesofhowyoucanexpectMattawanConsolidatedSchooltouseeach.

Asettingswindowwillpop-up,youwillbepromptedtoenterthefollowinginformation,thenclickSave:

• FirstName• LastName• Role• SchoolDistrict

WhenyoufirstlogintotheSchoolMessenger/InfoCentersystem,youmayreceiveapermissionpromptforanyphonenumber(s)thatyouhavenotprovidedconsenttoreceivevoicecalls.

Consentpreferencescanbechangedatanygiventime(discussedonpage8).

InanefforttobecompliantwithfederalregulationsitisrequiredforMCStohaveyourpermissiontocontinuecallingyouwithourSchoolMessengersystemfornon-emergencyschoolsituations(refertopage3forexamples).

Werecommendyouspendafewmomentsconsideringyournotificationpreferencestoensureyoureceivealltheemails,phonecalls,andSMStextmessagesyouwouldliketoreceive.

CommunicationSelectionperMessageType:Selectthecardforanytypeofmessageandspecifyyourpreferenceofcommunicationforthatspecifictopic.Forexample,thepersonintheabovescreenshothasoptedtoreceiveclassroommessagesviaemail,andnotviavoicecallorSMStext.

Our school utilizes the SchoolMessenger system to deliver text messages, straight to your mobile phone with important information about events, school closings, safety alerts and more.
