Parenta will not accept any responsibility for errors that occur when you are in the ‘back office’ of your site. If you make changes to your own website site and subsequent errors occur, Parenta will charge £25 per hour to fix the errors. We will advise you how long it will take us to fix it at the time you make us aware of any errors.

Use the top bar controls to quickly navigate through your site, both by moving between different pages and by moving between different device views. Click a page to view it, or click a device to see how your current page looks in that view. The top bar also has controls to undo or re-do simple actions in the editor, save your current site, and preview or republish your site whenever you like.

The content area is all about you. It’s your canvas, where you can click and edit to change features. Want to change an image? Click it to bring up the images & content editor, then click replace. Want to colour some text? Click a paragraph, then highlight the text inside and click the text editor’s colour option to choose a colour.

4Customising a Paragraph

Click the area and start typing.

To customise the text in the paragraph (font style, size, direction and more) use the inline editor.

Open the design editor by right-clicking the paragraph widget and selecting ‘edit design’ to change the style. Change the background and border styles in the style section. Customise the padding and margins (spacing around the widget) in the spacing section.

5Change an image on the image slider

Click and the content editor will appear.

A D D A N I M A G EAdd an image by clicking the add image button or by clicking any blank image spot. This will open the choose & place an image dialogue so that you can pick the image you want to add.

From here, you can:1. Select the folder with images you want to use2. Press the “+” icon to upload your own image3. Switch to the Full View for more image choice options

Clicking an image that’s already been added to the slider will open an image settings dialogue to the right.

Click the replace button to open the choose & place an image dialogue again so that you can pick a different image.

Click the edit button to open our built-in image editor where you can add simple features and styles to your image.

Click the grey X at the top corner of the image thumbnail to delete it.

More options can be seen for each image by scrolling down in the image settings dialogue. These include:

• Add link to slide: Makes the whole image a button that can be linked like a button widget.

• Slider title: Adds large text to the slider image.

• Slider caption: Adds smaller text to the slider image below the title text. Use the rich text editor to add colour, emphasis (bold, italics and underline), and bullets to text in the caption box.

• Button: Adds a button to the slider image that can be linked like a button widget.

• Alt Text: Adds alternate text to display for SEO reasons or when the image cannot be displayed.

When images are added to the image slider, they will not be displayed in their natural dimensions. These images are displayed to fill the image slider dimensions, so images can become stretched or blurry. To display images in their natural dimensions, you can toggle the ‘display full image’ option in the design editor.

8Changing the list contentClick for the content editor to appear.

From here you can select some options for images or links to be associated with each item on your list.

From this screen, you can:• modify existing list items• add new list items• add a title for your list

Click on any existing item to modify the content of the item. Each item can have an image, a label, a description and a link. For each list item you can choose to hide some or all of these fields. You can also re-order the list items by clicking and dragging on the 3 dots to the left of each item.

After adding your content, click on the design tab on top to modify the look and feel of the list widget.

From here you can control most of the options for how the list displays on your site. Click on layout to select from one of 5 different layouts. Click on list title, Item title or Item description.

9Changing a contact form

1. Click to open the content editor

2. Decide what information you’d like to get from your visitors and then modify the existing field by clicking the name of the field.

3. Add new fields by clicking the ‘add field’ button.

4. Click the Submission tab. In the submission recipients section, set the email address and subject for receiving form responses.

5. In the submission actions section, set the confirmation and error messages to display when visitors submit the form. Use the rich text editor to add colour, emphasis (bold, italics and underline), and bullets to text in the message boxes.

6. In the tracking section, add a tracking code to your form. If you have AdWords or any other conversion code, you can paste this code here.

11Setting up your GDPR-friendly contact form

To obtain consent from your visitors upon contact form submission, simply add a new field to your contact form following the instructions above and pick either the opt-in or free text option.

Adding the opt-in field will add a checkbox confirming your visitor’s consent to share form responses. This field will be required to submit the form response.

The default text is “By checking, I agree to share my form responses” but you can replace this with custom text if you like.

You may choose to add a different notification using free text. In this case, the field will simply appear as a notification below the fields of your contact form.

Files can be attached to a contact form. This can be accomplished by creating a file attachment field in the contact form. Visitors will be given a link in order to upload their files through the contact form.

To add this option to your form:1. Add a new field to any contact form.2. Select file attachment from the drop down menu. You can edit the placeholder text to change the name

of this area.3. A link to upload files will be added to your form.

Please note: There is no default GDPR or privacy-related placeholder text in the free text field, as this is a multi-purpose field, so you need to place your custom text.

13Changing the photo galleryClick to open the content editor.

Select any of the images you have in the image picker.

From here, you can:1. Select the folder with images you want to use2. Press the “+” icon to upload your own image3. Switch to the full view for more image choice options

You can add titles, text and buttons to your images in the gallery. Add these features by clicking on the image and editing the image settings.

14Adding a file to a button

Click to open the content editor.

The uploaded files window will appear. To add files, click on upload new file. You can add multiple files to upload simultaneously.

Drag your files or click the ‘choose files’ button to add files or folders. Files can also be downloaded from Dropbox, Google Drive, a link, or Gmail.

When the files have been selected, click upload.

You will be notified when the upload is complete. The downloadable file can now be seen on the content editor. The file is ready for visitors to download.

Only upload media or files that you have created or have permission to use; never violate copyright protections.

Your site visitors can share your download links easily through other sources, such as email and social media. Before offering content to download, make sure that you understand that your content could be spread without your knowledge. For documents that are sensitive or personal, think twice before sharing these documents via download.

The content editor controls the content of the image - In this tab, you can:

• Replace the image - Change the graphic of the image widget.

• Edit the image - Change image properties by using the photo editor.

• Link the image - Images can be linked to other pages and URLs, popups, anchors, email addresses and downloadable files. When a visitor clicks on the image, they will be taken to the link.

• Add Alternative Text - Enables search engines to recognize image content. Use this text to describe the image.

• Add a Tooltip - Text shown when a visitor hovers over an image.

Add, publish, unpublish, edit, or remove posts from your blog.

Change the thumbnail, name, title, description, and backups for your blog. You can also find your blog’s RSS feed URL here. Adding a blog name, title, description and url are important because they help with the SEO of your blog. The more keywords used in your name, title and description, the more relevance your blog will have on search engines. For example, using the term “food blog” in your blog name, title, description and URL will help search engines find your blog when a user searches for the term “food blog”.

You can categorise your blog posts by adding tags onto your posts. Click blog on the left menu, then click manage posts.

Choose a post to edit and click the edit button.

Scroll down to the tags section and add a tag. Press the enter key.

Tags will be grouped into categories, so you can filter your posts based on tags in the all posts widget. You can add the all posts widget onto multiple pages and sort the posts by their tags in the content editor.

22Republish

Once you have finished making your changes you need to hit ‘republish’ to save and make your changes live. If you do not do this the changes will not display on the website.
