What is a guide dog?

• Guide Dogs are specially trained dogs that help people who are visually impaired. They help their partners with daily tasks so they can live independently. They help their partners at work, at home, in public stores and restaurants and so much more. Guide Dogs and their partners are a team and they work together to live independently.

How are guide dogs trained?

• When the puppies are 2 months old they go to a home and are raised by puppy raisers for a year and a half. Then they are returned to the guide dog foundation and trained for 2 years. They go through very intense training and tests. Then they are given to a person in need.
