How to Print Your Artwork

To make your artwork sharp, vector graphics are better. (See also Artwork Size and Resolution.) But there are some points to make a nice print with Illustrator. 1) Make your artwork in RGB color mode. You'll have lots of difficulties in choosing colors if you are used to CMYK color mode. But this depends on the color management policy of each application, Printer Driver cannot manage that. You can make colors by using CMYK 0-100% scales of color picker, but keep the color mode in RGB and calibrate your monitor sometimes. GT-541 is device-color-maching printer in sRGB. 2) Set GT-541 as your PC's default printer beforehand. Illustrator has some problem especially in layout when your PC's default printer is NOT GT-541. If you select GT-541 as default before starting Illustrator, those negative effects will be prevented. You can avoide those problems such as a wrong print size, missing data and wrong print direction, etc. Select Printer & Fax menu in Control Panel. Choose Brother GT-541 or Brother GT-541 FileOutput and right-click to set. Please refer to the manual for the details.

Color Settings Select [ Edit ] > [ Color Management ].

Click the Advanced Mode checkbox to show all the settings menu. Make sure that the

settings of the Working Space are [ RGB : sRGB IEC61966-2.1 ] and [ CMYK : U.S. Web Coated (SWOP)v2 ]. And also confirm that the setting of Conversion

Options is [ Intent : Relative Colormetric ].

Note: GT-541 color management system applies only for sRGB (sRGB IEC61966-2.1). These settings may be changed by your PC settings. So please be aware of these settings.

Edit artwork If you make a new file, be sure to select the mode as RGB color. When you open an existent file, be aware of the paper size and color mode.

If CMYK color, color mode change and refilling are necessary for beautiful print. If you can refill each object, change color mode with [ File ] > [ Document Color Mode ] and refill colors with RGB color palette. If you cannot, copy all objects and open new RGB file and paste them. If a file is CMYK color mode, many colors, especially purple, black and yellow, may not be printed as you want. IMPORTANT

When you open an existent file, the layout sometimes looks like below: Illustrator somewhat remembers printer information of last editing and you will never print the outside artwork of dot lines. The only way to escape from this, select all objects, copy them, open a new file with 14" x 15" portrate, paste them and do the proper layout.

Make sure that Profile of Print Space is [ Same as Source ]. Confirm that [ Bitmap Printing ] is checked. Illustrator Help says that this is for every Windows non-Postscript printer. Click [ Properties ] to do Printer Driver settings. Click [ OK ] button at the bottom, and Printer Driver will start making print data.
