From Father Michael Van Lian, Burmese Community:
“Have in you the same attitude
that is also in Christ Jesus” Philippians 2: 5
St. Paul was writing to the church when he said that we are to have the same mindset as Christ Jesus. Our job is not only to protect the church but also as the church, to love and serve one another and be willing to lay down our life for those who are out-side our doors. In other words, to live like Jesus is to love and serve one an-other and to lay down our life for the world. This is to say that our mission is two-fold: love one another and love the world for which Christ died. Dear friends, our common life in Christ is fellowship of the spirit. The Holy Spirit gives us the gift of fellow-ship. We do not create it. As Christ supplies the grace and God bestows love, so the Spirit creates a deep shar-ing among us which makes us one. In that fellowship, which the Spirit gives, we experience the joy of know-ing that along with Christ, there are other human beings who know us the way we are and still love us. Today, how are you living to make our com-mon life a true reflection of Christ? Amen.

Have you completed the census?
Did you know the first Census was in 1790? Only 230 years ago! Under the U.S. Constitution, the very first responsibility of the Federal Government is a count of all persons living in the United States. Taking the census is a civic duty, and impacts sup-port for infrastructure, transportation planning, emergency preparedness, disaster relief, educa-tion funding, health tracking and disease control, as well as a multitude of other things. Be sure your household is counted in 2020. Visit the site, http://my2020census.gov/ or 844-330-2020.

Voter Registration for the 2020 Election
Election Day is Tuesday, November 3, 2020. In order to be able to vote, you must be registered. The deadline to register to vote is Tuesday, Octo-ber 13. You can register at www.kdor.ks.gov/Apps/VoterReg. It is important to register especially if you recently turned 18, recently moved or had a name change, have not voted in recent elections, or if you are unsure if you have registered. As Catholics, we are called not simply to vote, but to be well informed voters who in casting our ballots apply the moral principles and priorities of our Faith. The Catholic Church does not tell its mem-bers how to vote. At the same time, it is the re-sponsibility of the Church to help form the con-sciences of her members to understand the princi-ples and priorities that should guide their decisions as voters. Please see Archbishop Naumann’s statement on the moral responsibility of voting, at www.archkck.org/prolife. The USCCB’s Forming Consciences for Faithful Citizenship can be found at: http:// www.usccb.org/issues-andaction/faithful-citizenship/index.cfm.
