The 7th Wonder of the New WorldThis reserve is situated to the west of Nairobi, on Tanzania’s northern border - it is the extension to the larger Serengeti National Park in Tanzania. The Maasai Mara offers wonderful scenery and an abundance of big game.It is a reserve of breathtaking views, panoramas of vast rolling plains, hills and woodland groves, well watered by the lovely Mara River which bisects the Reserve from north to south. The Mara is home to the largest population of lions in Kenya, the worlds most spectacular animal movement, the annual wildbeast and Zebra migration. Vast herds of buffalo, zebra and wildebeest roam the plains. Migration usually takes place between the month of july to october. Impala, gazelle, giraffe and hartebeest grace the landscape, and the cautious topi may also be seen standing sentinel on earth mounds on constant lookout of predators. The waters of the Mara River are home to crocodiles and pools of hippo, the acacia woodlands and riverine forests favoured by leopard and elephant, and the open savannah and dry bush areas play host to the plains’ game and their attendant predators such as lion, cheetah, hyena and jackal.

Few lakes have a more commanding or lovely setting than Lake Naivasha, the highest and purest of The Rift Valley lakes. It is the second largest freshwater lake in Kenya and one of only two freshwater lakes in The Rift Valley, the other being Lake Baringo. Lake Naivasha is unusual in having no known outlet, normally a prerequisite for a freshwater lake! The lake edge supports dense vegetation which, in turn, supports a thriving bird population including the Grey-capped Warbler, Spectacled Weaver, Brimstone Canary and Red-billed Firefinch. All told, the area has a bird list of over 350 species. Being a freshwater lake, Naivasha has a healthy fish population which attracts a variety of fish-eaters. Both Long-tailed and Great Cormorants can be seen, along with Fish Eagles and Pied Kingfishers. One of the memorable sights is to watch Black Herons feeding on the lake. They are one of the bird species which form a canopy over their heads with their wings when feeding. This is presumably to reduce the surface glare or maybe to trick small fish and insects into believing that they are a shady sanctuary. Naivasha is also a good place to see the Grey-backed fiscal. This bird replaces the Long-tailed Fiscal in areas with higher rainfall. Also to be seen in the area is the Black-lored Babbler. Ornithological paradise and home for hippopotamus, Lake Naivasha is surrounded by Mount Longonot, an extinct volcano of 2,777 m of altitude which shades the lake in misty blues and purples. At Hell´s Gate gorge with its steam jets, and Fischer´s Tower a pinnacle of soaring rock, game abounds and the rarest of Kenya´s birds of prey, the Lammergeyer nest.

Bird life is also abundant. But the most impressive inhabitants of this arid landscape are the elephants, moving in large columns in their daily peregrination to the water. It is also the home of the Maasai people, those tall, proud nomads who have learned to live in complete harmony with their environment and the wildlife which surrounds them. A part of Amboseli National Park is composed of a dried-up lake bed which in the shimmering heat produces mirages. Swamps and springs, fed by underground rivers from Kilimanjaro’s melting snows, form permanent watering places for wildlife throughout times of drought. The snows of Kilimanjaro, white and crystalline, form a majestic backdrop to one of Kenya’s most spectacular displays of wildlife - lion, elephant, leopard, rhino, cheetah, buffalo and hosts of plains’ game, creating Kenya’s most sought after photographer’s paradise.

Toast with a glass of `Bubbly’ and erase all fears as security is well provided for. A set up with tables, chairs, cutlery, glass, and waiters and chefs will take care that guests enjoy this amazing experience.

Apart from the hiss of the burners, the flight above the Maasai Mara or Serengeti plains is magically silent. Upon landing a champagne -style breakfast is served in the bush.
