    SolidWorks 2009

Introduce in 1995 as a low-cost competitor to CAD.

    SolidWorks is a

    parasolid-based solid modeler

utilizes a parametric feature-based approach to createmodels and assemblies.

SolidWorks Version History:- SolidWorks 1995 ~ SolidWorks 2011 (current)

    Create 3D Drawings

3D drawing produced after the sketch made wasextruded or revolved.

The extruded and revolved icon can be found at the

    Assembly Basics

An assembly is a combination of 2 or more parts, also called components.

The purpose is to join a part to another to create anew models.

Create a part then save. Click new document thenmake another part and save.

Click new document and click assembly icon.

Go to Window and click title horizontally. Drag apart u need to at the assembly graphic area.

Design tables are used to generate configurations in a part or

    assembly file.

Feature dimensions and suppression states can be controlled in part

    design tables.

Families of parts can be created and modified through single spreadsheet.

Must use Microsoft Excel with Solidworks to create tables.

    Design Tables

    Basic in Design Tables

    Renamingfeatures and dimensions

    Displayingfeature dimensions

    Linking values of model dimensions

Verifyinggeometric relations Creating a design table

    Displaying part configurations

    Renaming features

It is good practiceto rename yourfeatures in your parts. This can saveanyconfusion incomplex parts.

    Displaying dimensions

You can display or hide all the dimensions for all thefeatures of the part .

Then you can turn display of dimensions on and off

either individually or on a feature-by-feature basis.

    Linking Values

Linking values is a way to control values that are not part

of a sketch, such as the depth of two extruded features.

    Verifying Relations

Before you proceed , you should define some geometricrelations thatensurethatthe knob is positioned correctlywith respectto thecenter ofthe box, regardless ofthesize.

Relations add to the integrity ofthe designand theyareoftenthemosteffective wayto conveythe design intentaccurately.
