Issues and Challenges - MNAIS
• Need for modification of Seasonality discipline.• Higher premium rates.• Sowing failure – Methodology to be defined clearly.• Midseason crop failure – assessment of crop
damage and adhoc payment methodology to be illustrated.
• Post harvest loss, assessment a challenge
18
Issues and Challenges - WBCIS
• Design of the weather product• Correlation of weather perils to the final crop
output.• Low density of AWS• Data validation & accuracy• Consideration based on alternate weather data if
AWS do not reflect the prevailing weather of particular Insured Area.
• Delay in settlement of claims
19
Future planning
• Wide publicity and awareness programmes at District, Mandal, Village level.
• Farmer interaction programmes in the villages / TV, AIR• To increase the coverage in terms of Loanee and Non-
Loanee• To involve NGOs farmer clubs, farmers associations to
give more focus on Small & Marginal Farmers.• Increase the coverage of land holdings by widening the
basket of crops under insurance.• Designing / modification of weather crop products as per
the requirement• Quick settlement of Claims
