is a series of operating

systems produced by Microsoft.

Microsoft introduced an operating

environment named Windowson

November 20, 1985 as an add-on

to MS-DOS in response to the

growing interest in graphical userinterfaces

to dominate the world's personal

computer market, overtaking Mac

OS, which had been introduced in

1984. As of October 2009, Windows

had approximately 90% of the

1. Windows 1.0was the first version of

Windows launched. Windows 1.0is a 16-

bit graphical operating environment,developed by Microsoft and released on 20

November 1985.

2. Windows 2.0is a 16-bit Microsoft

Windows GUI-based operating

environment that was released on

December 9, 1987 and is the sequel

to Windows 1.0.

of Windows 2.0, Windows/286 2.10 and
