Griffith Phys is a two-year part-time

university course for Year 11 and 12 students.

Building on Senior Physics delivered at school it enables students to experience an integrated university course whilst completing their senior studies. Griffith Phys is a

Admission Criteria and EnrollmentFor admission into Griffith Phys, Year 11 students must:

• be ATAR or Diploma of the International Baccalaureate eligible

• achieve a minimum C grade in QCAA General subjects, including a General English subject and Physics (or NSW/IB equivalent)

Report cards will be considered holistically, comments about a student’s ability must support their capability to excel in their GUESTS study.

Enrollment into Griffith Phys is completed online (email the Griffith Phys coordinator for the link), and Griffith University covers all costs of the course, except for the purchase of the text book (optional).

Benefits of Completing Griffith PhysUniversity CreditStudents who pass Griffith Phys will be eligible to receive 10 credit points for the equivalent course in a range of science undergraduate degree programs. This may reduce the overall cost of a Griffith University undergraduate degree program, and allow a 75% course load in the first trimester.

Support for Senior PhysicsGriffith Phys provides a range of additional resources (videos, readings and quizzes) to support both teaching and learning of Senior Physics. In addition, the Griffith Phys content is presented in modules so it can be aligned with the delivery of the Senior Physics syllabus. This format allows students to build on current knowledge and gain a deeper understanding of course content at a university level.

Adjusted Selection RankAs part of the Year 12 Subject Adjustment Scheme, students who pass Griffith Phys will be eligible to receive two adjustments towards their selection rank when applying for entry into an eligible Griffith undergraduate degree program. To pass Griffith Phys, students must achieve an aggregate score of >50% for the exams.

Queensland Certificate of EducationQueensland students who successfully complete Griffith Phys will have this course recorded on their Queensland Certificate of Education. This does not count towards ATAR calculation.

AttendanceGriffith Phys is an online course. In Year 11, students will study the content of the first half of Griffith Phys and be assessed with an online exam at the end of Term 4. In Year 12, students will complete the second half of Griffith Phys and be assessed with an online exam at the end of Term 3.
