Upon completion of her Griffith College program, Stephanie Symes is hoping to commence a Bachelor of Science and to one day work in evolutionary genetics.

‘I decided to study at Griffith College because I’d heard a lot of positive things from friends and I wanted a supportive environment to start my tertiary career. Each of the teachers went above and beyond to assist with our studies and prepare us for the next step.’

Stephanie lives in a share-house very close to the university, which makes it easy to come to class as well as participate in extra-curricular activities on campus.

‘There’s a range of activities across both the Mt Gravatt and Nathan campuses. Last semester I was able to join social sport with Griffith and join in with activity fairs run by both Griffith College and Griffith University.’

Pathways to Griffith University

As a Griffith College graduate, you'll have an internationally recognised, tertiary-level qualification and be prepared for entry into the second year of a Griffith University degree.

As a Griffith College student you can benefit from:

� the expertise and guidance from our teachers, many of whom have completed a research degree and lecture at Griffith University

� access to Griffith University facilities including libraries, sporting facilities and employment services

� small class sizes, typically with a maximum of 50 students in each lecture and 25 students in each tutorial, to ensure you receive individual attention from your teachers.

Program schedule

Griffith College operates three trimesters each year with intakes in February, June and October.

Diploma programs consist of eight courses studied over two or three trimesters with part-time study options available. The Foundation program consists of eight courses studied full-time over two trimesters.

Mode of study

Griffith College students study on-campus and will attend a combination of lectures, tutorials, laboratory sessions, group work and other practical activities, depending on the field of study.

On-campus learning means students are required to attend the contact hours specified for each course which is generally four hours per course per week and could be more in some programs.

Griffith College is located on Griffith University’s Mt Gravatt and Gold Coast campuses.

Mt Gravatt

With a tranquil bush location in the middle of Toohey Forest and panoramic views of Brisbane City, Mt Gravatt campus is the hub for Griffith University’s programs focusing on social issues including criminology, education and psychology. The recently upgraded Aquatic and Fitness Centre on the campus features a heated pool, indoor and outdoor recreation areas, and a fully equipped fitness centre (co-located with a 16-court tennis centre, a training oval, and basketball and netball courts) creating a world-class health and fitness hub for students.

Getting toMt Gravatt campus

Public transportThe Griffith University Busway is located conveniently at the Mt Gravatt campus connecting students to the city and the rest of the Brisbane transport network.

CarMt Gravatt campus is a 15-minute drive from the Brisbane CBD and a 10-minute drive from Garden City shopping centre.

Gold Coast

Griffith’s Gold Coast campus is the largest of five campuses and boasts state-of-the-art teaching and learning facilities. Located just minutes from the beach, the campus offers a dynamic and exciting student lifestyle, with beach volleyball, indoor soccer, basketball and tennis facilities as well as a gym and fitness centre and an Olympic standard athletics track.

Getting to theGold Coast campus

Public transportWith two light rail stops, the campus is easily accessible from the heart of the Gold Coast.

You can reach the Gold Coast campus by bus, G:link light rail or train. Bus connections run between Robina Station, Helensvale Station and Griffith. G:link light rail runs from the Gold Coast University Hospital to Southport in 11 minutes and to Cavill Avenue in 25 minutes.

Helensvale is the closest train station, and is approximately 15 minutes by car or 20 minutes by bus from the Gold Coast campus. Trains to Brisbane and Robina can be boarded at this station.

CarThe Gold Coast campus is a 10-minute drive from Southport, the centre of the Gold Coast, and a 45-minute drive from Brisbane.

In 2018, the Gold Coast campus will be transformed to a hive of activity, with the Commonwealth Games Village (CGV) located across the road.

The CGV, which is currently being built, is set to host 6,500 athletes and officials from around the world.

Ramona Petrilla is currently studying the Diploma of Hotel Management at Griffith College. Upon graduation she hopes to move to the Gold Coast to continue her hospitality studies in the Bachelor of International Tourism and Hotel Management. ‘With this degree I hope to become a hotel manager on the Gold Coast, and maybe work overseas in other hotels as well.’

‘I decided to study at Griffith College because I felt that it would offer a great foundation for my education. I am also using the experience I am gaining in studying my diploma to help direct my choice of bachelor degree. Find the right program for you

Griffith College offers programs of study at three levels—all progressing to Griffith University with differing amounts of credit.

Foundation

The Foundation program provides a bridge between secondary school and undergraduate studies. Graduates can enter the first year of a broad range of bachelor degrees or progress to a diploma to bachelor pathway with up to a year of credit.

Diploma

Diploma programs offer students a springboard into the second year of a Griffith University degree. Students complete the first year of select degrees in a supportive and personalised learning environment, ensuring that upon completion, they are well equipped for university study.

Associate degree

The Associate Degree in Commerce and Business is a two-year program designed to progress students to the third year of select Griffith University commerce and business bachelor degrees with up to 2 years of credit. It also accommodates students who may not meet the grade point average requirements to progress from the Diploma of Commerce or the Diploma of Hotel Management into Griffith University.

Foundation Program

About this program

Griffith College’s Foundation Program is equivalent to Year 12 (senior high school) and provides a bridge between secondary school and undergraduate studies. This program has been designed to adequately prepare you for

entry to university-level programs in the fields of Arts, Business, Commerce, Design, Engineering, Health, Hotel Management, Information Technology (IT) and Science.

Can I still apply if I don’t have the assumed knowledge?Yes, you can still study the diploma and Griffith College offers free bridging subjects that you can study alongside your diploma courses.

What are bridging subjects? Bridging subjects are available to you if you do not have the assumed knowledge for your program. Griffith College offers the following bridging subjects:
