greetings from the griffin

athletic association

From the AD’s Desk

Dear Griffin Fans,

Once again on behalf of all of our student-athletes and athletic administration, I extend my sincere thanks and appreciation for all that you have done to support Seton Hill athletics. Through your contributions to the GAA and participation in the Doug Wood Golf Outing, we have been able to significantly enhance some of our athletic facilities. Projects included construction of a small press box/storage facility and a new concrete patio at Dick’s Sporting Goods Field, a concrete patio adjacent to the field house, excavation and repair to the softball field and hillside between the baseball and softball fields, purchase of new scoring tables for volleyball, basketball and wrestling, and creation of a team meeting room in Sullivan Hall. Bigger projects are on the horizon, as we are in the initial planning stages of replacing the multi-purpose turf field,

transforming the softball facility to artificial turf, and adding an additional turf practice facility. I hope to be able to share more information on this project in the near future.

On the field, the fall season did not go as well as we had hoped though our teams played hard and with great passion. Some noteworthy accomplishments from the fall: Football defeated Slippery Rock (PSAC Champion) 41-38; the Griffins were led by First Team All PSAC performers Phillip Moreland and Jarvis McClam. Men’s soccer player, Joe Smith, earned First Team All PSAC honors. Our volleyball team entered the season seeking a 3rd straight NCAA Tournament appearance but was devastated by injuries. Volleyball was led by PSAC Defensive Player of the Year, Lauren Teed, and First Team All PSAC performer Cassie Hausfeld. Women’s cross-country had a solid fall, finishing seventh of 17 at the PSAC Championships. PSAC runners of the week Chelsia Poole and Meagen Carter paced the Griffins all season long. In addition, Jackie Kleinschrodt was named

the women’s cross-country PSAC Champion Scholar at the PSAC Championships. Out at the stables, the equestrian team continued its stellar fall semester. Recently Maggie Carty, Briana Kupic, Taylor Rosso, Macey Marks, and Nicolette Santercangelo all punched their ticket to the spring regional competition with

outstanding performances.

I hope to see you all soon at a winter or spring contest!

Classic Raises 50,000!

We are pleased to share that we raised $50,000 for the second consecutive year through the Doug Wood Memorial Golf Classic. A sold-out crowd of 120 guests enjoyed the sunshine at Arnold Palmer’s Latrobe Country Club – one of the rare dry days in June.

“Each year, this event continues to improve, but for us to raise $50,000 in two consecutive years is something special. The Wood family is truly grateful for

all who make this event what it has become - one of the area’s premier golf events. We look forward to making our eighth annual event even better in 2016,” said Dan Wood.

The proceeds from this event were used to build a two-story press box at our Dick’s Sporting

Goods facility on campus, purchase a new timer’s and scorer’s table for the McKenna Center, update our softball facility on campus as well as add concrete

patios around our athletic facilities.

Since joining the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) in 2013, the Griffins have earned the right to say they are top of the PSAC in overall team GPA. Individually, nine of our varsity teams earned the PSAC Top Team GPA Award in their respective sport in 2014-15, a PSAC record, as is the overall GPA of 3.442!

The nine teams who received recognition for producing the top GPA are Women’s Tennis (3.940), Women’s Cross Country (3.830), Women’s Basketball (3.690), Women’s Soccer (3.610), Men’s Soccer and Women’s Track and Field (3.580), Women’s

Golf (3.560), Men’s Basketball (3.450) and Baseball (3.330). The Volleyball team was second in the PSAC with a 3.620. All of our other programs were in the top half of their league.

“I am very proud of our student-athletes’ success in the classroom,” stated Executive

Director for Athletic Programs Chris Snyder. “Having the

highest grade point average in the PSAC and having

nine of our programs achieve the highest GPA in their respective sport is very impressive.

This speaks volumes about the high-quality

students that our coaches recruit to Seton Hill.”

Once again, a thank you must go out to all of our sponsors, golfers, dinner guests, donors and committee members for their support. We want to especially recognize ProGrass, for their second consecutive Title Sponsorship.

The 2016 Doug Wood Memorial Golf Classic will be held Friday, June 10, 2016 at Arnold Palmer’s Latrobe Country Club. Again, thank you to all for making this event special. We look forward to seeing you on June 10!

Before the volleyball season began, the team was already receiving awards for their hard work in the classroom. The team received the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Team Academic Award for posting a 3.62 cumulative GPA, well above the minimum standard of 3.30. In addition to receiving this team award, there were nine Griffins that earned All-PSAC Scholar Athlete accolades this past year, totaling 17 awards since joining the PSAC two seasons ago.

On the court, this was a season with high hopes for the SHU volleyball team. The team started out on a strong note, but soon began to deal with season ending injuries to key players. The Griffins competed against of the toughest schedules in the country while dealing with key injuries and they were still able to post a 23-13 record and finished fifth in the PSAC West division.

The team had three members named Dino’s SHU Players of the Week. The first to do so was junior outside hitter Cassie Hausfeld. Hausfeld won the award again for the final week of their season. The next to receive this award was

sophomore setter Maggie Murray. Murray was also named the PSAC

West Volleyball Athlete of the Week for her efforts. The

final member to receive the Dino’s SHU Player of the Week honors was freshman outside hitter Rachel Satira.

Senior Lauren Teed captured the

PSAC West Defensive Player of the Year while junior Cassie Hausfeld was an All PSAC West First Team selection and senior Shelby Kyllo earned ALL PSAC West Second Team honors. Teed was also named to the D2CCCA and American Volleyball Coaches Association All Atlantic Region Team.

The Griffin Athletic Association would like to say thank you to Lauren Teed, Emily Giles, Shelby

Kyllo, and Abigail Malsch for their tireless dedication to Seton Hill University and the Volleyball Program. “These four women had a great career for Seton Hill University and will be missed for not only their play, but for their leadership abilities and energy they brought everyday,”

Women’s Tennis Prepared for

Spring After a Strong Fall

The Griffins, who were led by two seniors, posted a 3-1 record after the fall season with the last match of the season being an impressive 7-0 victory over Millersville. Their only loss came to national tennis powerhouse Carnegie Mellon University where they battled hard in every match.

The team participated in the always-competitive PSAC Women’s Tennis Championships this year and showed much improvement compared to last season. The doubles team of Paula Carvajalino and Madison Debone won their first match of the event handedly, but then lost to the eventual doubles champion from California University of Pennsylvania in the next round. Sara Ruiz and Isidora

Knezevic competed in singles play. Both of these matches were tightly contested, but ended with losses.

The next competition for the Griffins will be in February when they begin their spring season in Florida. “After a strong fall campaign for the Griffins, the spring looks to be promising for the team. We will continue to work hard through

winter break

and be ready for Florida,” said head coach Kim Kissell.

stated head coach Rick Hall.

“The Griffins have a positive future for the next couple of years with a young team consisting of many talented freshmen. These upcoming years should be very exciting for our program,” said Hall.

Women’s Golf Showing Consistency

The Women’s Golf team experienced a successful fall season, posting four top-10 finishes. The team competed in five tournaments before competing in the PSAC Golf Championships, where they finished in sixth place. The highest finish of the season for the Griffins was a second place finish at the Evann Parker Memorial.

There were several standout individual performances throughout the fall for the Griffins. Courtney Newport had a very strong fall posting five top-10 finishes. Newport finished in first place at both the Alderson Broaddus Invitational and at the Evann Parker Memorial. For her efforts at these consecutive meets, Newport was named the Dino’s SHU Player of the Week and the PSAC Women’s Golfer of the Week.

The fall season concluded at the PSAC Golf Championships in Hershey where the Griffins posted some impressive rounds. Newport led the team with an eighth place finish, and Emily

Hassey and Gabrielle Gutierrez both posted top 20 finishes. Freshman Megan Smoulder finished in 30th place. The team finished their strong fall combined for a sixth place finish at the PSAC Golf Championships.

“We will resume spring play in March, and we will build on the consistent play of our young team, which shows a lot of promise in the future,” said head coach Dustin Patrizzi.

Women’s Soccer Has Bright Future

with Many Young Players

The Seton Hill women’s soccer program began a new era this season as Andy McNab took over for long time coach John Fogle. McNab led the Griffins to a 7-10-1 overall record in his first season as head coach, a two-game improvement over last season. The Griffins finished PSAC play with a 5-10-1 mark.

The team struggled in the early part of the season, giving up 25 goals in its first eight contests. The Griffins then rebounded and solidified their defense, only giving up 14 goals in its last 10 games. Seton Hill was battling in many of their games, losing five games by just one goal. SHU dropped a heartbreaking 1-0 double overtime decision to PSAC Champion and NCAA Atlantic Regional finalist East Stroudsburg.

The team was led offensively by freshman Emily LoPresti, who scored a team-high nine goals and 22 points. LoPresti was named a Third Team All PSAC selection and to the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) Third Team All

Atlantic Region Team. LoPresti completed the most successful season as a freshman since the Griffins made the move to the NCAA in 2008. Her nine goals tied for the sixth best in the PSAC, and she had the eighth most points in the league. LoPresti also led the PSAC in shots per game, averaging 4.33 shots per game. Emma Bearinger was second on the team in scoring with six goals and a team leading five assists. Senior defender Hanna Marks was named to the CoSIDA Academic All District Team for the second year in a row.

Dustin Patrizi, a 2009 graduate of Seton Hill, was recently named head coach of the SHU women’s golf team. While a student, Patrizi was a four-year member of the men’s golf team (2005-09). Since his graduation, Patrizi has continued in the game of golf by becoming a Class A PGA Professional. Patrizi has served as the PGA Professional at Westmoreland Country Club and spent time at Totteridge Club.

“Dustin comes to Seton Hill with a great deal of golf experience and more importantly golf teaching experience that will benefit our program,” noted Executive Athletic Director Chris Snyder. “Dustin has a clear vision on where he would like to take our program and the dedication and competitiveness to lead our program up the standings in the PSAC.”

SHU Dance Team Jazzes Up Many Events

The Griffin Dance Team is a fairly new addition to the Seton Hill community. The team was founded in the spring of 2013 and has grown to include 16 members for the 2015-16 season. The group performs a variety of dance styles including Pom, Jazz, Hip Hop, and Lyrical at football, basketball, volleyball, and lacrosse games and in parades. In the spring, the team competes at an intercollegiate dance team competition against teams in the region,

like California University of Pennsylvania and Slippery Rock. Since its establishment, the group has won high gold awards and second place overall.

The Griffin Dance Team is dedicated to not only enhancing school spirit but also contributing to the Greensburg community through service and outreach. The

dancers have performed and participated in charity events such as the Race for Grace, Swishes for Wishes, SHU Pink Out Games, Dancing with Celebrities, and Relay

for Life.

Men’s Soccer Led by Joe Smith

Photo: Dave Miller

Midfielder Joe Smith may need a larger trophy room after this past season. Smith, a native of Castle Donington, England led the Griffins in scoring with nine points and a team leading five assists. Although the Griffins had a bit of a down year on the pitch due to many key injuries throughout the season, the Griffins battled to a 5-12-1 overall record and posted a record of 3-8 in the PSAC.

The Griffins will look to return many of their injured players and rebound in 2016 to improve on their three-year PSAC mark of 27-26-4. The Griffins qualified for the semifinals of the PSAC Tournament a year ago, losing by a point to Bloomsburg University.

Joe Smith became the first Griffin to earn First Team All PSAC honors in Men’s Soccer. Joe was also recognized for his accomplishments

in the classroom by being named to the CoSIDA Academic All District Team. Smith also grabbed a Second Team selection on the D2CCCA Atlantic Region Men’s Soccer Team. Lastly, Smith was named to the ECAC Division II Men’s Soccer All Star Team as a Second Team selection.

The Griffin Athletic Association would like to wish all the best to seniors Harry Jawanda, Seon Ripley and Cameron Evans for their dedication to Seton Hill University and the Soccer Program.

“The dance team works diligently to build school spirit and proudly represents the University within the community. I am always impressed by their professionalism while performing at both on and off campus events. I am truly proud to be the advisor of a team that is dancing to make a difference,” said coach TaMara Swank.

The members of the Griffin Dance Team want to thank TaMara Swank and all of the gracious sponsors for helping the team achieve so much these past few seasons. Special thanks to the team’s seniors, too, for their dedication and leadership: Michele Mellick, Kathleen Montefiori, and Selena Vinciguerra. Go Griffins!

Griffins looking for

more success in 2016

After a season of much improved play, five Griffins received All PSAC West Honors. Making the PSAC West First Team were senior cornerback Phillip Moreland and junior return specialist Jarvis McClam. Senior offensive tackle William Wright III, freshman wide receiver Ardell Brown and junior linebacker Nick Boynton earned All PSAC West Second Team honors for their efforts.

Moreland was also a First Team USA College

Football Division II All-American selection for his leadership in

the defensive backfield. Moreland holds the school record with 29 pass breakups.

Brown was named to the USA College Football D-II Rookie All-

American Team. McClam and Moreland were named honorable mention ECAC Division II Football All Stars and were also named to the Don Hansen Football Gazette Super Region I Team. Moreland was joined by senior safety Otis Williams during the National Bowl Game in Miami, Fla. The National Bowl Game showcases All Conference and All Americans from around the nation for a chance to play in front of professional scouts.

The 2015 Griffins finished with a deceiving record of 3-8 and (3-6 in the PSAC West), losing narrowly to three of the PSAC’s finest teams in the final moments of the game: West Chester University, Indiana University of Pennsylvania and Gannon University. Surely, the highlight of the 2015 season was the win over eventual PSAC Champion Slippery Rock 41-38 at Offutt Field in Greensburg.

The Griffins will continue to build on their progress in 2016. The Griffins will take the field again for their annual Spring Game on Saturday, April 23 at Offutt Field. Game time is set for 3:30 p.m. Their 2016 fall schedule opens

Field Hockey Sees Growth

Photo: Dave Miller

The 2015 season was a surprising campaign for the Field Hockey program, filled with many highs, lows and most of all growth. With only two seniors on the roster, the team was young but had high expectations.

The team entered into the preseason more determined and eager than ever. The Griffins began the season winning all three of its scrimmages before beginning regular season play. As their PSAC conference play began against nationally ranked teams, the ladies fell short in multiple heartbreaking overtime losses. As they faced the same teams again in the second half of their season, the team showed even more improvement. The ladies earned their first win against Mansfield University with a score of 3-1 on October 21st.

The season challenged the team’s character and allowed for growth both individually and as a unit. Sophomore Ashley Curnow earned Dino’s Seton Hill Player of the Week honors for scoring twice for the field hockey team during a week when the team was 1-1. Standout senior Brittany Davis ended her career being selected to the Division II Senior All-

Star game. The Griffin Athletic Association would like to

wish seniors Carissa Davenport-Smith and Brittany Davis best of luck in all of their

future endeavors.

Seton Hill Equestrian found more success this past season. The fall semester started with the team being named Reserve Champion at the first competition of the season. Their home opener was a success, achieving High Point Team for the day. Throughout the fall semester, Seton Hill was Reserve Champion for four out of seven horse shows. The team now has six regional qualifiers for the spring.

During the fall season, the Equestrian program had two Dino’s Players of the week; Brooke Kulasa and Briana Kupic. Both ladies have performed well while maintaining a great academic career. Brooke has won five high point rider titles out of the seven horse shows the team has been to thus far. Briana was high point rider her first time in the Novice Division. As a freshman, the team is excited to see what else she will bring to the team!

Equestrian Rides to

Success in the Fall

With the help of Head Coach Rebecca Bloom and Graduate Assistant Taylor Jansen, Seton Hill Equestrian plans on taking many girls to the Zone and National Championships. This spring, Zone championships will be held near St. Lawrence, N.Y., while Nationals will be held at the Kentucky National Horse Park in Lexington.

“The team has worked really hard this season, and I am excited to see their hard work pay off,” said Coach Bloom. The

women will start the spring semester shows

in Coolville, Ohio on March 12th.

Men’s and Women’s Cross Country

Remains Competitive

Photo: Dymphena Clark

There were several individual performances on the year that stood out for the Women’s Cross Country team. Chelsia had a fantastic year finishing with a top-10 finish in all six events, as well as two first place finishes on the year. She earned several accolades for her efforts this year including All Region honors, two Dino’s SHU Player of the Week awards, and two ECAC DII Women’s Cross Country Runner of the Week awards.

Senior Meagan Carter also had a standout year. Meagan had four top-10 finishes on the year. Meagan’s biggest accomplishment of the year

came at the NCAA Atlantic Region Championships

where she came in eighth place with a time of 21:13.2, which was the fastest 6K time ever by a SHU women’s cross country runner. With this time, Meagan was only one spot away from qualifying for nationals. Meagan also acquired some accolades this year including All Region honors for the second straight year, a Dino’s SHU Players of the Week

The Women’s Cross Country team had a strong year, which was accompanied by several standout individual performances. The women’s team opened the season at Duquesne Duals, where they defeated five of the seven teams at the event. The next event the Griffins competed in was the Saint Vincent Invitational, which they won. The Griffins individually exceled here as well, by claiming four of the five top spots. Chelsia Poole got first place on the women’s side, Meagan Carter was in third, Jackie Kleinschrodt was in fourth overall, and Sarah Taylor was in fifth place. The other finishes that were achieved by the women’s team are 14th at the Paul Short Invitational, second place at the Carnegie Mellon Invitational, seventh place in the PSAC Championships, and seventh place in the NCAA Atlantic Region Championships.

There was another individual award that was given to a member of the team. Junior Jackie Kleinschrodt was named the PSAC Women’s Cross Country Champion Scholar at this year’s PSAC Cross Country Championships. This award is given to the athlete with the highest GPA that was competing in the event.

The Griffins will be losing four seniors this year including Meagan Carter, Emily Dempsey, Morgan Petro, and Brianna Presutti. These four women have done big things for the Griffin’s Cross Country team and they will be missed. Looking ahead to the future, the women have a very young team and should have many more competitive years to come.

The Men’s Cross Country team had a fairly strong year as well. The team competed in five meets and finished in the top 10 in three of them. The men had their highest finish in September at the Saint Vincent College Invitational. The team placed second in the event. The other finishes by the men’s team were eighth place at the Paul Short

Invitational, seventh place at the Carnegie Mellon Invitational, and 14th place in the PSAC Championships.

At the PSAC Championships, the men’s team was led by Santo Belle’s 57th place finish in the 8K race. He finished the race in a time of 27:29.4. Jerrod Sunderland was right behind in 59th place in a time of 27:29.8. Steve Lafferty and Ryan Whiteman finished in 96th and 97th place, running times of 28:17.7 and 28:19.5. Rounding out the SHU top five was Micah Canteral in 102nd place.

The Griffins will lose two seniors, Santo Belle and Steve Lafferty, leaving behind a strong work ethic for their younger teammates to achieve. Looking ahead at the next few years, the Men’s Cross Country team should be on the rise due to the large number of underclassman. The Griffin Athletic Association wishes all the best to Santo and Steve on their future endeavors.

1. Jacquie and Michael, tell us why you chose Seton Hill over other schools?

(JP) I chose Seton Hill because when I came on my official visit for softball, I was able to meet the admission counselors and professors who really made me love the forensic science program. I also fell in love with the softball team and at the end of my visit, I remember breaking down in tears by the stop sign by Maura and telling my mom that I was meant to go to school here.

(MB) The main reason that I chose Seton Hill over other schools is because of the baseball team. When I was choosing where to go to school I practiced with a couple teams, but no team practiced with the same attitude and determination that Seton Hill did and there was no team even close when it came to the camaraderie.

2. Tell us about your favorite class at Seton Hill and why?

(JP) My favorite classes so far here at Seton Hill have been the

In the Lair with Jacqui Palmer and Michael Bittel

Special topics: Psychology of Food course and the Counseling class. The Food course covered health topics that are pretty important for me now and in the future, and counseling opened my eyes to what I really wanted to do- be a school guidance counselor.

(MB) My favorite class that I had a Seton Hill was my Training and Development class. This was my favorite because we were able to design our very own training program and actually implement it with our classmates.

3. Now that you have been living in Greensburg the last few years, what is your favorite thing to do in your free time?

(JP) I love being in Greensburg. I actually love to go to the little shops in town as well as the little

Page 19: GRIFFIN ATHLETIC ASSOCIATION NEWSLETTER …...semester. Recently Maggie Carty, Briana Kupic, Taylor Rosso, Macey Marks, and Nicolette Santercangelo all punched their ticket to the

17

“mom and pop” restaurants. My favorite is Getty’s Grill where I go to get breakfast often. I also love to spend my free time taking pictures around town as well as going fishing at Twin Lakes.

(MB) My favorite thing to do in my free time is to just be around my teammates. No matter what I do on The Hill, I am always with my teammates, and I wouldn’t want to have it any other way. Whether it is at practice, a game, or just watching television, it is always a good time.

4. Everyone has odd fears in life. Tell us about yours.

(JP) I don’t know if I have any odd fears, but I feel like I’d be fearful of not graduating from college just because this is important for me. It is just as important for the rest of my family because I am a first generation college student. I guess an odd fear would be that I don’t leave an impact here on campus, in SAAC, or with myself.

(MB) My number one fear in life is centipedes. Ever since I was little I hated everything about them, and I can’t stand to even be in the same room as one. If I see one, I’ll leave the room.

5. We always hear about what Seton Hill has done for our

alumni. What has Seton Hill instilled in you two so far?

(JP) I think Seton Hill definitely has helped me grow as a person in a positive way. I believe that working with my team and attending classes has helped me to become a better person. I try to do more for the common good. I work with SAAC to organize and plan fundraising for Make-A-Wish, I help with community service for the SAAC as well as for my own team. I have found that I want to give more and more every day I am here on campus.

(MB) Seton Hill has given me the knowledge and confidence to go and achieve what I want to achieve. I set up my honors capstone project this past summer, which was an adaptive baseball game for mentally and physically handicapped children in the Chowan County area in North Carolina. It was an amazing experience and without the way of life that was instilled upon me since I came to The Hill, I wouldn’t have been able to accomplish it.

6. Many athletes have superstitious routines before games. Tell us about yours.

(JP) I actually do not have any superstitious rituals before

Page 20: GRIFFIN ATHLETIC ASSOCIATION NEWSLETTER …...semester. Recently Maggie Carty, Briana Kupic, Taylor Rosso, Macey Marks, and Nicolette Santercangelo all punched their ticket to the

18

games. I typically just go and play. I used to believe in not stepping on the chalk, but I don’t want to step on it because I don’t want to mess up the field before a game.

(MB) I am a very superstitious guy when it comes to baseball and life in general. I am down to the minute before games. I start stretching and warming up 41 minutes before the game. Then I will start my first bullpen 17 minutes before the game, with my second one starting 11 minutes before the game. Other than that I have the same ritual on the mound and in between innings.

7. Right now, if you could be anywhere in the world, where would you be and why?

(JP) I probably would want to be in the state of California with my family because I have been missing them a lot since returning for the spring semester. But I think if I could just travel for fun, I’d like to go to the Dominican Republic because I would love to do service work and see another Latin speaking country.

(MB) Cancun Oasis Resort with my teammates. I went with my teammates in December, and I

hope to visit there again!

8. Last year, both of your teams had great seasons. What do you attribute that success to?

(JP) I think our team success was based on team camaraderie and the fact that we wanted to do well for a senior, Christine. We definitely play for each other. I think we were all motivated, especially in Regionals, because we had been underdogs for so long, so to come out and be able to prove that we were a competitive team made it all the more of an advantage because teams didn’t know what to expect from us.

(MB) Our success could be boiled down to a couple of things: Our physical and mental preparation, trust and belief in one another, our core covenants, and everyone having the same goals in mind and the work ethic and desire to win that is necessary to achieve them.

9. Both of you have great parents who attend almost all of your games. Tell them what this means to you.

(JP) I was very fortunate that my parents only missed two of my games before coming to college, so being across the nation

Page 21: GRIFFIN ATHLETIC ASSOCIATION NEWSLETTER …...semester. Recently Maggie Carty, Briana Kupic, Taylor Rosso, Macey Marks, and Nicolette Santercangelo all punched their ticket to the

19

makes it a lot harder for them to come see my games. But I am fortunate enough that they make the trip to my spring games, and for one weekend, as well as playoffs. Having them at my games makes my days a whole lot better, and I absolutely love it when they can be here. I am very thankful that I have the parents that I have and all they do and try to do for me.

(MB) Having my parents, as well as my siblings, at my games is always a huge boost for me. Without my parents’ support I would not be here and I wouldn’t have any of these opportunities that were presented to me. Seeing them in the stands reminds me how truly lucky I am to have them, and it helps me perform better on the field as well.

10. After your chapter on The Hill is complete, what are your

plans?

(JP) I actually plan on living in Somerset where I currently own a house with my

parents, and hope to become a

guidance

counselor in Somerset County. I love being here in Pennsylvania so moving here was pretty easy, especially since my parents are coming out here too. I am hoping to get my Master’s degree somewhere locally or maybe in Maryland so I can stay close to my new friends and family out here, but I have another year before I officially plan all that out. I also plan on buying a horse. My parents and I made a deal that once I graduate and can write a 1,000 word essay on how to take care of a horse, I would be able to get one. So those are some short-term plans/goals that I have right now for after school.

(MB) My plans once I leave the Hill are to hopefully find a job dealing with sales in a baseball organization. I would love to be in the front office for the Pirates one day and be behind the baseball operations. I am also considering continuing my education and getting my Master’s degree.
