Happy New Year to everyone! I hope you all had a wonderful holiday season. Speaking of holidays - our
Chapter Holiday Party is coming up at the Bayou on Saturday, Jan 3, starting at 5 pm. This is always a
fun time with a buffet dinner and ‘Chinese Gift Exchange’ of gifts costing about $10 -$15. We’ll have a
slide show of the past years and some presentations too, including our Chapter Calendar for 2015, so I
hope to see you there.
Barbie Aspinall worked with her church to find a ‘needy family’ that we helped with Christmas presents
and food once again this year. Barbie and her helpers, Judy, Ruth, Marge, Fran, Mike and Suzie
shopped and wrapped to make this family’s holiday a little brighter. Thank you all for your work as Santa
and elves! Photos can be found later in this newsletter
The Surettes led a New Year’s Day ride to lunch. It was very well attended with 18 people and 11 bikes
so you can tell we are not wimps that let the cold weather stop us. Don’t know why I am saying ‘we’ and
‘us’ – I didn’t go! You will find some pictures later in the newsletter. Thanks to Pete and Alice for
coordinating the event!
Once again I encourage you all to join us in Ocean City Jan 8-10 for our Winter Thing District
convention. We have over 200 people attend from Maryland and our neighboring districts, so it’s a great
opportunity to renew old friendships and meet new riders. You never know, you might just find some folks
Greetings from the Chapter Director
Cathy Kelley
to meet up with for some new riding experiences in the coming year. Since our convention is in the winter
there is no real riding to speak of, therefore you have a chance to take seminars and classes that will help
you in both your riding and Gold Wing experience. You will find the schedule at the end of this newsletter
– the room numbers will be available at Winter Thing.
We would like everyone going to Winter Thing to bring one food item for the hospitality room, such as
some cookies or granola bars, maybe something homemade like a cake. We’ll be supporting a local OC
food bank too if you are inclined to donate some items like dry or canned food. Also, if you have any gift
cards you would like to donate to the raffle basket we would appreciate them. Our basket will be based
on the movies, so if you have any dvd’s to donate that would add to the appeal of our basket. Best of all,
there will be a costume contest at the Friday night dance. Dress up like you are going to the Oscars or a
premier or dress as a film character since the theme is ‘Silver Screen’ to honor our 25th silver anniversary
of Winter Thing!
Our next big event will be our annual Spaghetti Dinner Bingo on Saturday, Feb 21. We will discuss the
details at our gathering on Jan 25 so be sure to be there so you don’t get stuck with mopping detail !
The flyer for this event is now on our chapter website – don’t forget we all have to pay too! If you are a
new member plan to be there – it’s lots of fun along with some work …. Flyer is attached below.

If it is yours, tell Fran at the next gathering and you will win a Golden Corral gift card!
Since we didn’t have a gathering in December, the number in that newsletter will be honored in
January along with the number in this January newsletter.
Greetings from our “Rider Educator”
Greetings all!
DECEMBER WAS CALM AND UNEVENTFUL FOR THE MALONE FAMILY THIS YEAR. WE ENJOYED GETTING TOGETHER WITH SOME OTHER MEMBERS THIS MONTH DURING THE ANNUAL STAFF APPRECIATION DINNER AT THE KELLEY’S HOME WHERE THE FOOD AND COMPANY WERE EQUALLY DELIGHTFUL. RUTH AND I HOPE THAT ALL OF YOU HAD A WONDERFUL AND SAFE CHRISTMAS HOLIDAY AND WE WISH YOU ALL A VERY HAPPY NEW YEAR! OUR CHRISTMAS HIGHLIGHTED WAS THAT WE WERE ABLE TO “SKYPE” WITH OUR YOUNGEST SON MARC, CURRENTLY SERVING IN AFGHANISTAN (WHAT A TREAT IT WAS).
NOW ON TO THE BUSINESS OF RIDER EDUCATION AND INFORMATION SHARING, SOME OF THIS INFORMATION BELOW WAS PREVIOUSLY SHARED IN NEW YORK DISTRICT’S NEWSLETTER. IT SEEMED FITTING TO BRING IT TO YOUR ATTENTION HERE IN OUR NEWSLETTER AS WELL.
PREVIOUSLY, MEMBERS HAD TO ASK CHAPTER EDUCATORS TO CHECK ON STATUS OF THEIR TRAINING RECORDS AND LEVEL SUBMITTALS. THIS HAS NOT BEEN THE MOST EXPEDIENT PROCESS. IN JANUARY 2014, GWRRA MADE IT EASIER FOR MEMBERS TO REVIEW AND VERIFY THEIR OWN INFORMATION WAS RECORDED IN THE ORGANIZATIONS DATABASE. HERE’S HOW MEMBERS CAN REVIEW THEIR OWN RECORDS WITHIN THE GWRRA’S NATIONAL RIDER EDUCATION PROGRAM LEVELS DATABASE:
Go to www.gwrra.org
Slide cursor over “Programs” on the blue menu bar and then select “Rider Education”
On the left side of screen, scroll down the list and select “My R.E. Information”.
Next, assuming you do not already have a user ID/password, select “I need help logging in”
Construct your user ID and submit for a password following the directions provided.
Review your information. As you view your records, roll your cursor on “history” areas to expose information. If you find errors or omissions, do your best to locate proof of the information that is missing. If you are unable to locate proof of something you participated in, contact your Chapter Educator, District Educator, or Region Educator to inquire if they might have a record of proof. You can also contact the instructor or a fellow attendee. With substantiated documentation your District Educator can correct the record. Please view the database as one of your membership benefits. Use it as a tool when you seek to participate and move on to the next rider program level. If all fails, please don’t hesitate to contact someone in the Rider Education chain, we are here to serve you. Always Ride Prepared, Be Safe, and Have Fun

Greetings from the ACD
Judy and Shane Patishnock
Welcome to 2015!! Shane and I hope that y’all enjoyed a wonderful Christmas and New Years’ Holiday. Now along
with the 2015 New Year comes the time to make New Resolutions!! A New Resolution could be anything from
making a life change, to getting more education, accepting a new job – well you get the idea!
However, since this is a motorcycle chapter, I’m hoping that the focus of some of your New Resolutions would
include increasing your attendance and participation in our Chapter H meetings and events, coming up with potential
ideas for rides, whether to an event or your favorite restaurant, or even increasing your motorcycle riding skills as a
rider (and co-rider!), maybe offering to host a Chapter Pot Luck which could be at your residence or favorite park, or
perhaps volunteering for a Chapter H staff position – these are just a few ways to include Chapter H and motorcycle
riding in your New Resolutions.
Chapter H Staff welcomes and encourages your involvement, attendance, participation, and fresh ideas to help
keep the FUN in everything we do. Your Chapter H Staff work hard to make Chapter H a great chapter with lots of
FUN riding events, but we cannot do it without your support and involvement. That being said, we recognize also that
our members cannot always attend every Chapter H meeting or event as family events, work, etc., sometimes get in
the way.
January 1st was our Chapter H kick-off ride with Pete Surette leading the ride around Havre de Grace, through
Darlington, across the Conowingo Dam, through Port Deposit, then back to Rte 40 and on to our final destination,
Riverside Pizzeria, for some good food. It was a short, relaxing ride with plenty of good food and a lot of catching up
on friend/family news.
January 3rd
was our annual Chapter H Holiday Party held at the Bayou Restaurant in Havre de Grace. The
member turnout and food was good, camaraderie even better, and the Surettes did a great job on the 2015 slide show
as always! (Remember if you take pictures, whether at our chapter functions or at other events that you attend, send
those pictures to Alice so they can be included in our 2015 slide show.) In addition, the 2015 Chapter H Calendar was
provided to chapter members at our Holiday Party. If you did not attend the Holiday Party, see Cathy Kelley to get
your calendar (one per family). For those members who received the calendars at the Holiday Party, please bring
them with you to our upcoming 25 January chapter meeting at the Golden Corral in Aberdeen; Cathy will have some
additional events for you to add to your calendar.
We hope that everyone will plan to attend and participate as much as possible in our upcoming 2015 chapter
events. Keep in mind that attendance and participation in chapter events does not necessarily mean you have to be on
2- or 3-wheeled motorcycles; 4-wheeled vehicles will bring you to our events too! We look forward to seeing you at
either WinterThing this coming weekend or our first 2015 chapter meeting on 25 January! Let’s keep the FUN in our
Chapter H activities and enjoy a season of some mighty fine riding, get-togethers, and camaraderie!
Gold and Wing Recap: Gold and Wing alighted at our residence in November, having arrived there while we were
away for the weekend. (I did notice that Gold lost one of his legs…hmmm must have been a very rough stay in Surettes’
shed!)
Update: Gold and Wing will be ‘flyin the coop’ this month – landing who knows where?!? They might fly high, they
might fly low; depends how nigh the wind does blow…
Shane and Judy
Ride Safe and Keep the Shiny Side Up!
Chapter H hits the road for the now annual New Year’s Day ride led by Pete & Alice
Judy, Ruth and Marge join Barbie in wrapping gifts for our ‘needy family’ at Christmas.
Look at all the gifts! We helped a family with 4 children.
