ENCOURAGEMENT CAN SPREAD
LIKE A VIRUS!
Everyone likes encouragement! In fact, the Bible has a lot to say about encouragement: Moses was told to encourage Joshua to lead Israel into the Promised Land (Deuteronomy 1:38). Joab told David to encourage his troops or they would all leave him (II Samuel 19:7). David says in the Psalms, the Lord encourages the afflicted (Psalm 10:17). Elders are to encourage the church with the Word of God (Titus 1:9). The writer of Hebrews tells all Christians to be in the habit of meeting together to encourage one another (Hebrews 10:23). Since all of us need encouraging, I would like to share something which “really encouraged me” – The Baker Heights 2019 Vacation Bible School!
While it’s true V.B.S. only lasted three nights, in reality, it actually started months before that: The organizing, planning meetings, outreach events such as the Cedar Creek Apartments cookout; the Dyess Air Force Base backpack giveaway; handing out flyers to friends and neighbors; preparing lessons; prayers for success; getting food together, moving chairs and furniture; putting decorations all around the building; receiving donations; etc, etc, etc ... I have never seen such teamwork within a congregation – all working for the Lord!
We had close to 100 kids each night, along with some parents who stayed for the adult class and fellowship afterwards. In fact, there were so many visitors it was hard to keep track of them all!
Your work was not in vain. VBS was extremely successful. I am so very proud and so blessed to be a part of such a loving and hardworking family who cares so much about bringing the love of Jesus to their community!!!
Let’s keep up the great work and ensure we, as a church family, are always part of spreading His Word!
