Greentech Delegation to GermanyJune 18th – 27th 2013

Dear Ladies and Gentleman,

Greetings from the Malaysian-German Chamber of Commerce and Industry (MGCC).

We would like to bring your attention to a unique business trip to Germany from 18 – 27 June 2013.

This Greentech Delegation to Germany will provide participants a platform to gain and exchange information and views on the research and development of Green Technology and to develop opportunities to optimize their businesses.

Highlights of the trip are:1. Visits “Intersolar 2013”, world largest solar trade fair 2. Training modules a. Bio-energy (biomass, bio-gas, bio-fuels) b. Water technologies / Waste c. Green Townships/Smart Cities d. PV Installation 3. Company and site visits / Presentation 4. Business Match Making

Intersolar Europe 2013 will be the world’s largest gathering of manufacturers, suppliers, distributors, utility and service companies in the solar business. It will be this year’s most important showcase on technical innovations and the latest market trends. Approximately 2000 exhibitors from 49 countries filled up an area of 170,000 sqm at Intersolar 2012 while 66,000 visitors attended the event. This is what makes Intersolar Europe the ideal platform to forge quality contacts internationally, to showcase achievements and exchange information and views on latest technology.

For three (3) consecutive years, MGCC had organized a very successful Greentech Delegation to Germany with the partnership and good support from Ministry of Energy, Green Technology and Water (Kettha), Federation of Malaysian Manufacturers (FMM), Greentech Corporation and Malaysian Photovoltaic Association (MPIA). The highlight of the trips were visits to the Intersolar Fair in Munich, solar park, factories, green townships, research

In the first half of 2012, Germany produced 67.9 billion kilowatt hours of renewable energy, a record high and an increase of 19.5 percent compared to the year 2011. Germany is now producing 25 percent of its power with renewable energy and has been dedicated to continuing on the green energy path. Germany decided to phase out nuclear by 2020 and replace it with 100% with renewable energies. Germany is expected to produce 40 percent renewable energy of the country’s overall energy by 2020 and 80 percent by 2050. Hence the entire industry segment has immense future potential.

Malaysia's potential for renewable energy generation is substantial. Its equatorial location is superb for solar, and its extensive tropical forests can supply large quantities of biomass especially the palm oil sector. The palm oil sector generates a huge amount of biomass, estimated to be 80 million dry tones and expected to increase to about 100 million dry tonnes by 2020. Hydropower also plays a significant part of the nation's energy mix and mini-hydropower from streams and rivers has boosted the electricity supply in rural areas.

The National Renewable Energy Policy and Action Plan, effective since June 2010, aims to draw more of the nation's electricity supply (11 percent by 2020) from renewable energy. With an attractive FiT rate and abundant natural resources, Malaysia is ripe for foreign investment in renewable energy projects. Renewable power solutions could help the country avoid becoming a net fuel importer in the next 30 years, reduce its carbon emis-sions and make a difference in rural quality of life. However, stakeholders involve in the development process need to plan wisely as responsible development which addresses sustainability issues will prove more profitable in the long term.

To become outstanding in the field of Green Technology, stakeholders need to be competent and committed whereby capacity building, human resources and technology transfer are made a priority and a necessity. We believe that this trip comes exactly at the right moment. Don’t miss out this great opportunity!

Please return the attached completed “REPLY FORM” to us by 6 May 2013.

As last year our great delegation attracted participants from neighboring countries, this year again we plan to invite companies from our neighboring countries who are interested to participate in this delegation hence facili-tating more networking advantages for the participants.

For further questions on this delegation, please contact Ms Sherena Wong at 03-92351800 Ext 1806 or email her at [email protected]. Looking forward to see you in Germany.

The undersigned look forward to personally lead the delegation to ensure an unforgettable experience.

With very best regards,Malaysian-German Chamber of Commerce

Highlights

Intersolar Europe 2013Intersolar is the world’s leading exhibition series in the solar industry. This year 1,900 exhibitors will be expected to present their products and services. The Intersolar is a “Connecting Solar Business” and 66,000 visitors are expected to attend. Here, companies attract new customers and strengthen existing contacts in countries all over the world. No other event brings together so many established solar companies and industry newcomers. Intersolar Europe is accompanied by the Intersolar Europe Conference. The conference deals with topics presented during the exhibition, consolidating the information at an international level. Intersolar has established itself among manufacturers, suppliers, distributors and service providers from all over the world. So take the chance to meet quality contacts internationally to showcase achievements and exchange information and views on latest technology.

FreiburgFreiburg is the role model of a green city. Its three pillars of the energy policy are: energy conservation, the use of new technologies such as combined heat and power, and the use of renewable energy sources such as solar to meet new demand, instead of fossil fuels, with the goal of realizing an ecologically-oriented energy supply. Numerous significant projects were developed like over 400 Photovoltaic installations as it is one of Germany’s sunniest areas. Freiburg is also home of Energy’s most advanced Research Center on PV, the ISE (The Fraunhofer Institute for Solar Energy Systems) which conducts research on technology needed to supply energy efficiently on an environmentally sound basis. With the visit of Freiburg, it will also be given time to experience these implementations on practical examples in a one day coaching module.

Freiburg

Hydropower Plant , Munich Isar’s river – PraterkraftwerkIt generates 10 million kWh of green electricity a year, enough for 4,000 Munich households. In Total, the plant prevents the emission of 9,000 tonnes of CO2 a year.

Coaching ModulesOn-site coaching modules with different interesting green topics, such as Solar / Photovoltaic, Biomass/ Biogas, Green townships, Biowaste and Water will be one of the highlights. You will have many on-site opportunities to find out more of these interesting areas.
