GREENING THE GATEWAY CITIES PROGRAM
Greening the Gateway
Cities Program (GGCP) is an urban tree planting program
designed to reduce household
energy use, improve area water
quality, and improve public health in
the state’s Gateway Cities.
We are looking to hire tree planting
laborers for our spring (April-June)
and fall (September-November)
planting seasons in the following
cities:

URBAN TREE PLANTING SEASONAL LABORER
BEING A TREE PLANTING LABORER
As a planting laborer, one can expect to:
Plant trees under the guidance of a trained forester.
Work outside as part of a small team and in any weather condition.
Transport trees, mulch, soil, and water loads weighing over 50lbs.
Wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), like gloves, safety vests, eye protection, and more, as appropriate.
Represent the DCR appropriately and responsibly in public.
Other duties as assigned
JOB DUTIES/EXPECTATIONS
SAMPLE DAILY SCHEDULE
A tree planting day usually follows a basic schedule, Monday-Friday, 7:30am-4:00pm:
7:30am: Meet at planting office and review planting assignment/s with program forester/s
Morning: Tree planting on public and/or private property
Lunch
Afternoon: Tree planting and/or door-to-door canvassing
4:00pm: End
