Green tea in India and black tea ensures good health. Water is considered as the first most consumed beverage all around the world. After water, tea
is considered as the most consumed beverage in the world. Tea provides number of health
benefits to the human body. Tea provides number ofhealth benefits because of flavonoid
content present in it. Studies have proved that green tea in India has real benefits, but as all the
tea comes the same plant. All the types of tea have similar health benefits. Firstly they contain
similar polyphenol content and secondly polyphenols present in tea are flavonoid
tannins.
Flavonoids
Leaves undergo different processes to make tea and all this impacts on flavonoid content.
Green tea is made when the leaves are withered and are then steamed before being rolled and
in the end are dried. Black tea involves withering of leaves for several hours. This oxidizes the
flavonoid and also darkens the color of the leaves. Flavonoid levels are similar but green tea
contains more of catechins.
Diabetes
There are significant evidences which show that consumption of tea is associated with reduced
risk of type 2 diabetes. This is all because of the theaflavins modulating plasminogen activator
inhibitor function.
Cancer
Consumption of tea reducing risk of different types of cancer is quite weak. With the effects of
antioxidant and this could be apparent in reducing risk of bowel cancer, this is due to the effect
of flavonoids in large intestine.
Dental health
Tea contains anti-bacterial properties. Species which are responsible for dental caries helps in
reducing the adhesion of bacteria to the teeth. Tea also inhibits the production of enzyme
salivary amylase. These enzymes help in breaking down starch in mouth. Studies have proved
that regular consumption of tea lowers the risk of caries. Tea is often consumed with milk. Milk
also hasits own anti-cariogenic effects and all this is due to the mineral content.
Bioavailability
The absorption of tea flavonoids is generally lower because of the molecular weight. Popularity
of tea has made it one of the most important sources of flavonoids ion the diet. There is a big
debate whether adding milk to tea affects flavonoid absorption because of binding with the milk
proteins.
Cardiovascular health
There are large number of studies which are looking at tea and cardiovascular health. Studies
have proved that five to six cups of green tea regularly reduces the risk of heart disease. On the
other hand effects of black tea are not dissimilar. Regular intake of two to three cups of black
tea reduces the risk of C V disease. There re number of studies which have compared the
effects of both black and green tea? But in the end the results are found similar for both.
Consumption of tea is different in different cultures. Green tea is considered as a very healthy
drink. Black and green both the teas provide similar benefits.Green tea in India is consumed by
large number of people as a protection against various diseases. Tea is a drink without which
