Problem:
• Many teenagers are indifferent and don’t realize the severity of natural disasters and how they affect the global community
• Teenagers don’t know how to react or what they need when a natural disaster occurs
Solution:
• Create an exciting and interactive game where teenagers will obtain knowledge of natural disasters and what they need to overcome them
About DisasterSquad:
• User will be able to:
• Register and have their own account
• Choose a game (Lite version is Hurricane game only)
• Gain points by choosing objects to help them in the specific disaster simulation
• Access information of natural disasters that have occurred in the world within the last ten years
Our app:
Market:
• Teenagers in NYC (Nearly 2 million New Yorkers are under 18) through social media pages like Facebook, Twitter, Tumblr, etc.
• NYC Schools
• Teachers
• Red Cross and Relief Organizations
Financial Analysis:
• The initial, lite hurricane edition of the game is free, and will make money with advertisements
• From our research, this could amount to $400-$5,000/day
• Future games of different disasters will cost $.99 each
• Future sponsors like Red Cross and other relief organizations could also provide a source of revenue
Future Plans:
1. With future programing …
• Different games for each type of disaster
• Choice of an avatar
• More advanced game programming (Your avatar runs collecting materials while facing the aftermath of the disaster)
2. Outreach - DisasterSquad for other cities that have also encountered natural disasters to expand knowledge
