Starting in 2008, Major League Baseball started awarding the Green Glove Award to the team with the highest recycling rate that diverts the most waste from landfills. The Giants have won this prestigious award every year since its inception! The Garden at AT&T Park is comprised of cutting edge vertical aeroponic towers, which can grow up to 44 plants on a tiny footprint. AT&T Park achieved a 67% annual waste diversion rate for 2010, 85% in 2011, 86% in 2013. Last year we had a 95.6% diversion. Around 4,000 lbs. of peanut shells are collected after each game, ground up and given to local farmers to use as fertilizer. In 2007 the Giants partnered with PG&E to make AT&T Park the first MLB ballpark with a solar array.
