Superintendent's Corner

As another school year comes to aclose, I had the privilege to speak atseven graduation ceremonies this year.Green Bay Area Public Schoolsgraduated more than 1,300 seniors fromEast, West, Preble and Southwest HighSchools; John Dewey Academy ofLearning; and Dr. Rosa Minoka-HillSchool. Together the graduates earnedmore than $5 million in scholarships. Weare looking forward to learning about themany contributions and positive impacteach of these unique individuals will haveon the world. We hope that many decideto eventually make Green Bay theirpermanent home.

The seventh graduating class I spoke towas the Early Learning Center’s Class of

2031. Like all graduations, the celebration in many ways mirrored the graduation ceremonies with our high schoolseniors. Parents and family members were in attendance, many bearing gifts. Students were dressed up and someeven wore caps and gowns. However, perhaps the biggest similarity was the pride of accomplishment in the faces ofparents, family members, students and educators. Graduations are significant milestones that are worthy of pride andcelebration.

All of these events are important reminders that in the busy world we live in, we need moments like these to stop andrecognize the significant efforts of everyone involved. Raising and educating students to be successful graduates thatare college, career and community ready is not only hard work, but also takes significant resources and the support ofan entire community.

Thank you,
