ATHENSAthens is the historic capital of Europeas it has been inhabited since theNeolithic Era. Through the course of itslong, fascinating history, it reached itszenith in the 5th century B.C. (the"Golden Age of Pericles"), a period whenits values and its culture crossed thegeographical borders of the city andspread worldwide. Political thinking, theater, arts, philosophy, science, architecture and so many other humanintellectualities reached their zenith in aunique time coincidence and spiritualcompletion. Hence, Athens became thecore of western civilization, while manyGreek words and understandings such asdemocracy, harmony, music, mathematics, art, gastronomy, architecture, logic,Eros, euphoria and many more, enrichedvarious languages and inspired differentcivilizations.

During centuries Athens came acrossmany conquerors, which left their mark onmonuments of outstanding prestige andcharm creating rare historic palimpsest.Due to its historic past Athens wasdeclared the capital of the newly-established Greek state in 1834. In the twocenturies that followed, it has developedto a modern metropolitan center ofincomparable charm and great interest.

Nowadays, visiting Athens is a uniqueexperience. It is a “journey” to a 6.000years history. A "baptism" or initiation toall great monuments and art masterpieces, from the ancient times up to themedieval period, as well as to thearchitectural heritage of the 19th and20th centuries. It is the feeling of“warmth” and spiritual uplift that thebright sunlight of Attica sky offers. Thebeauty of the area’s natural landscape(“lacy” coastlines, beaches and mountains). The pleasure of seeing the city’s modernstructure and the vividness of itsinhabitants. Athens is one of the mostbeautiful and charming capitals in Europethat fascinates its visitors all year long.
