15 Greater Kashmir SRINAGAR | December 31, 2013, Tuesday SPORTS WELFARE COMMITTEE Sec-1, Hamdaniya Colony, Bemina, Srinagar Appeal Of Donation For Construction Of Masjid Usman Hamdania Colony Sector I & J Bemina Srinagar. The Intizamiya Committee of Hamdania Colony Sector I & J is in the process of purchase of land/construction of above Masjid Sharief. The land consisting of five Marlas stand purchased adjacent to the Colony and an amount of about one and a half lac stands paid against a settled cost of about seven lacs with the owner. As the residents are not financially so sound to pay the amount at their own, it has as such been decided by the Intizamiya Committee to request some God loving personalities to donate generously towards this religious Endeavour so that the land owner is paid in full the outstanding amount and take up further steps in constructing the Masjid Sharief as early as possible. The amount of donation may please be credited in the name of Intizamia Committee, Masjid Usman Hamdania Colony Sector I & J bearing Account No: CD/195, J&K Bank Branch JVC Hospital Bemina. AC.NO:- 1206-0101-0000-0195 (CD/195) Branch Code: JAKA-0-EJVBEM Ac. Name: Masjid Usman Hamdaniya Colony Sector I & J Bemina, Srinagar. Sd/-President M-006 Pak set to challenge rusty Lanka Abu Dhabi, Dec 30: Pakistan will be looking to maintain its impec- cable recent record in the United Arab Emirates when it meets Sri Lanka in the first of the three-Test series from Tuesday. Pakistan has lost only one test match out of 10 in the UAE since its home games were shifted to the gulf country due to security reasons in March 2009. Captain Misbah-ul-Haq tuned up for the longer format with a 3-2 win in the one-day series against Sri Lanka, which will be playing a test match after a nine-month break. Misbah believes he has a bowl- ing attack "to challenge the oppo- sition," while Sri Lanka captain- Angelo Mathews says his team is at full strength with the return of Rangana Herath and Mahela Jay- awardene. AGENCIES Misbah-ul-Haq and Angelo Mathews with the series trophy. Gayle, Watson seek a hefty hike in pay New Delhi, Dec 30: West Indies opener Chris Gaylewants to defy his franchise Royal Challengers Banga- lore's attempt to retain him as their top player while another top foreign cricketer Shane Watson is game to stay with the Rajasthan Royals, but unhap- py with the money offered to him. Those in the know say that hectic negotiations have kept the IPL franchises busy no sooner had the league's governing council made players' regulation public. With a reputation of hitting sixes at will in the richest T20 league in the world, insiders say that Gayle is asking for a hefty fee and also contemplating the option of listing his name in the February 14 auction next year if RCB doesn't match his expectations. The Vijay Mallya-owned franchise, one understands, is also willing to make Gayle its top player in the team ahead of their skipper Virat Kohli, but the West Indies cricketer is caught in two minds. As per the IPL regulations, the top cricketer is supposed to get a salary of Rs 12.5 crore. But the teams who are retaining their top players can pay more or can also shell out less money as per the understanding between the teams and the players. But a sum of Rs 12.5 crore will be deducted from the actual purse of Rs 60 crore. For example in the last contract, both MS Dhoni and Virender Sehwag were retained by their teams — Chen- nai Super Kings and Delhi Daredevils respectively for $ 1.8 million. But in reality, they got much more than what they were supposed to get and the entire payment was legal. Similarly Royals want to retain Watson as their top player, but the team may not be in a position to disburse the actual printed amount of Rs 12.5 crore to their top cricketer. "Negotiations have already begun and the teams are in touch with their top players. These negotiations are part and parcel of the IPL con- tract," a source close to the develop- ment told TOI on Saturday. Interestingly, those foreign crick- eters who are not willing to reach an understanding with their individual teams and opt to line up for the auc- tion, they may still come back to the original team if his old team owners produce matching cards in the auction. With new IPL regulation only allow- ing five retentions, the teams would lose a total sum of Rs 39 crore out of Rs 60 crore before the auction begins. Expectedly, a lot of capped Indian cricketers will be in the auction this year and that is why the IPL teams are suggesting that the foreign cricketers shouldn't get more ambitious.
