METROPOLITAN VETERINARY ASSOCIATES, (610) 666-1050, 2626 Van Buren Ave, Norristown PA 19403

The veterinarian reserves the right to charge a fee for services rendered. If any fee will be charged, you will be notified prior to the start of treatment.

DIRECTIONS: From the Expo Center, take Station Ave to Egypt Rd, turn right. 2.3 miles to Rittenhouse Rd, turn right then 0.4 miles turn left on Van Buren Ave.

EXTREMELY IMPORTANT STUFF YOU SHOULD READ

EMERGENCY: Contact Daemon Heckman at (484) 636-7513.

CRATING SPACES: The crating areas open to exhibitors at 2PM on Tuesday. Breeds exhibiting in Rings 7~9 should use crating space in Hall D. All other conformation crating space is in Hall A. Electricity is free and available in all areas within range of a 100-foot extension cord. NO DRYERS OF ANY SIZE MAY BE USED.

Up to 120 reserved preferred spaces in Hall A and an additional 60 in Hall D are available by pre-registration. Spaces may be reserved without limit on a first come, first served basis. Each 6 x 6 ft space is $20 for the entire cluster. The fee for one space per person is waived for breeds conducting SPECIALTIES ONLY. See separate form on p7 to reserve preferred space. EVEN IF NO FEE IS DUE, A FORM MUST BE SENT so that a space can be reserved.

The remaining free space is available on a first come, first served basis. No reserving of space in the free section will be permitted. Stacking of crates is encouraged.

OVERNIGHT CRATING: Dogs may be left overnight on Tuesday through Saturday. On the crate of each dog staying overnight must be placed a label or tag bearing the dog’s call name, owner’s or handler’s name, and owner’s or handler’s mobile phone number. The hall will be locked not later than 10PM each night and unlocked at 6AM the following morning. Though a security guard will be present, SJKC and VFKC recommend against the use of overnight crating. SJKC and VFKC will not be responsible for any injury or loss that occurs during or results from the use of overnight crating. Such use is entirely at the owner’s risk.

RV PARKING is $100 REGARDLESS OF DURATION and by pre-registration only. Failure to pre-register will result in an additional $50 LATE FEE or refusal of admission to the RV parking area. See separate form on p7 to reserve RV parking space. RV parking is available at 4PM Tuesday; all rigs must depart by 7PM Sunday. Absolutely no hook-ups available, and no electric lines may be laid across roads. Fire lanes must be kept clear. No parking spaces may be reserved using cones. Exercise pens must use wood shavings and be cleaned up before departure. A dumpster is available for waste collection. Failure to obey the instructions of parking officials will result in forfeiture of parking privileges and may result in further penalty per the Event Committee.

COVID-19 RULES, POLICIES, AND PROCEDURES

Due to the evolving nature of the pandemic and the response of public health agencies – in particular the US Centers for Disease Control (CDC), Commonwealth of Pennsylvania Department of Health (PA-DoH), and Montgomery County Office of Public Health (OPH) – the following is subject to change. All changes will be posted on the Valley Forge Kennel Club Facebook group at https://www.facebook.com/groups/valleyforgekc/ The overriding goal in all the following is to minimize risk by minimizing potential exposure. The best way to do that is minimizing the number of people in the building and maximizing inter-personal distancing.

If in the opinion of OPH inspectors the compliance of staff and exhibitors with the following is inadequate, their remedy may be as severe as terminating the cluster. Therefore, the clubs must institute a ZERO TOLERANCE POLICY for failure to comply. Penalty for violation may be expulsion from the site and a disciplinary hearing via video- or tele-conference at a later date.

American Kennel Club Certification

Permission has been granted by the American Kennel Club for the holding of these events under American Kennel Club rules and regulations.

Gina M. DiNardo, Secretary

To find out about event cancellations, call the AKC Event Cancellation Hotline (877) 252-3229.

4 WINTER BLAST CLUSTER, DECEMBER 2-6, 2020

ENTRIES CLOSE AT 12:00 NOON EST

1. GUIDELINES: CDC, PA-DoH, and OPH safety guidelines will be followed. These include:

a. Masks must be worn over nose and mouth 100% of the time while indoors except for brief drinks or in designated eating areas. Guidance on acceptable masks and how to wear them can be found here: https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/prevent-getting-sick/about-face-coverings.html Gaiters, bandanas, and face shields are considered insufficient. Exceptions will be granted in accordance with Section 3 of the PA-DoH mask order.

b. Avoid shaking hands, hugging, or other physical contact. Avoid touching dogs that are not your responsibility. Maintain a minimum 6ft distance from all people outside of your household.

c. Wash hands as frequently as possible (hourly is best) for at least 20 seconds. If hand washing is problematic, use hand sanitizer.

d. Prepare to be self-sufficient. Bring personal supplies of hand sanitizer, masks, and pens.

e. Perform a periodic self-assessment for symptoms of acute respiratory illness consistent with COVID-19 – such as fever, cough, chills, muscle pain, headache, sore throat, vomiting or diarrhea, new loss of taste or smell, and/or shortness of breath – that is not explained by another medical or allergic condition.

2. OPH POLICIES that exceed PA-DoH policies for events conducted at the Expo:

a. The PA-DoH recommended travel quarantine is MANDATORY for people attending these events. In effect, for the 14 days prior to the event, no time of significance may be spent in any of the states identified by PA-DoH on the list found here: https://www.health.pa.gov/topics/disease/coronavirus/Pages/Travelers.aspx

b. The COVID ALERT PA smartphone app should be installed upon arrival and left active during and subsequent to the event. More information is available at https://www.health.pa.gov/topics/disease/coronavirus/Pages/COVIDAlert.aspx

3. CHECK IN: All persons entering the building for the first time each day must use a check-in station to turn in their completed COVID-19 Agreement (see next page), verify they are symptom free, conduct a temperature check, and receive a wristband to allow re-entry. Showing a prior day’s wristband will be considered proof that an Agreement has been submitted.

4. FACILITY: Access to and use of the building will be limited much more than in prior years. Please adapt your plans accordingly.

a. The cluster is closed to the general public. Acceptable persons in the building include exhibitors, their agents, and assistants involved in the grooming, transportation, and exhibition (handling) of the dogs; administrative and security staff including judges, stewards, superintendents and grounds crew, club members, photographers, AKC representatives, and employees of Site Control and Echelon Protective Services; and vendors providing goods and services to the aforementioned.

b. Chairs will be provided for the needs of administrative and security staff only. Exhibitors requiring a chair for medical and like needs may bring their own. Distancing from others must continue to be observed while seated. Any chair placed near a ring for the needs of an exhibitor must be removed promptly after the judging of a breed, class, or group concludes. Chairs may also be used in crating areas but must not be used for forming a gathering or other social purpose; these may be conducted outside or in a meeting room.

c. Many exterior doors – especially the steel type – will be designated for one-way foot traffic only to prevent areas of congestion. Observe signage indicating function for entrance or exit.

d. Due to anticipated weather conditions typical for early December, indoor crating space is being provided for the benefit of the dogs. Notice the term used is “crating” not “grooming”. NO DRYERS OF ANY SIZE MAY BE USED INDOORS. Essential or finishing grooming is acceptable in the crating space during show hours. Exhibitors wishing to bathe dogs are advised to research PetValu stores and other DIY bathing salons in the area. Exhibitors needing time for more extensive grooming tasks are advised to consider using hours when the building is open but the show is concluded. NO LOITERING IN THE CRATING AREAS.

e. Eating may be conducted outdoors, or indoors in designated area(s) only. No eating is allowed in vendor or crating areas.

5. RING PROCEDURE: Each ring will have an entrance and exit gate. Armband numbers will be available on a table at the ring entrance. Ribbons and trophies will be placed on a table at the ring exit. The ring interior will be marked for 6ft spacing. A 6ft boundary will be marked outside. Dogs will be gaited individually or with significant distancing.

6. SYMPTOMS: If during the event you develop symptoms or have reason to believe you have been exposed to someone positive for COVID-19…

a. …while offsite, DO NOT ENTER THE FACILITY. Call the emergency contact (Daemon Heckman at 484-636-7513) to discuss the details of the situation. Any personal property left in the building will be returned to you.

b. …while onsite, contact staff immediately. A secure perimeter will be established to facilitate a safe exit of the facility and removal of personal property. A test for COVID-19 must be taken within 24 hours.

7. REFUNDS: In the event of a cancellation of these trials, entry fees will be refunded based on net proceeds less refund administration costs except when such refund would be less than 15% of the entry fee.

SPECIAL ATTRACTIONS

4-6 MONTH BEGINNER PUPPY THURSDAY THROUGH SUNDAY

Bring your 4-6 month puppies: We’re holding an AKC-sanctioned Beginner Puppy Special Attraction prior to regular judging each day, Thursday through Sunday. Plan on an early start.

One combined class will be offered for breeds and varieties of dogs that are at least four months and under 6 months in each Group as described in Chapter 3, Section 1; and in the Miscellaneous Class as described in Chapter 3, Section 23 of Rules Applying to Dog Shows. There will be a selection of Best of Breed Puppy and Best of Opposite to Best of Breed Puppy in each breed/variety. All Best of Breed

Puppy winners will then compete in their respective group (including Miscellaneous Class) for First through Fourth. Foundation Stock Service (FSS) breeds may compete and the winners of each FSS breed will compete in an “FSS Group”. The Miscellaneous Group and FSS Group winners will be eligible to compete in Best 4-6 Month Puppy in Show.

An AKC registration number is required for entries of an AKC-recognized breed. FSS number or FSS registered litter number is required for Miscellaneous and FSS breed entries. Dogs must be at least four months of age and under six months. Dogs are required to be vaccinated in accordance with their veterinarian’s protocol in order to avoid inadvertent transmission of illness by/to puppies not yet fully immunized. AKC Rules Dealing with Misconduct will be applicable to person and dog entered at this competition. All applicable rules found in Rules Applying to Dog Shows will govern the conduct of this competition unless these regulations state otherwise.

Exhibitor should plan on opening the mouth of their puppy for the judges. Breed standard disqualifications such as color, height, weight, or dentition shall not be a point of consideration in the judging process for this 4-6 Month Beginner Puppy Special Attraction event.

THURSDAY THROUGH SUNDAY

The AKC Owner-Handled Series is a non-titling competition for dogs that are exhibited by their owners that are not professional handlers. This series of special competitions is offered at dog shows across the country.

All dogs that are owner-handled and not owned or exhibited by professional handlers meet the requirements for this competition. Exhibitors must declare their dog is owner-handled eligible at the time of entry using the check box on the entry form. Eligible dogs will be identified by an asterisk in the steward’s book and catalog. Dogs must be handled throughout the competition by an eligible owner. Professional handlers may not exhibit the dog in any competition during the entire show.

The Owner-Handled Best of Breed will be selected from the dogs that are eligible to compete in the Best of Breed competition including Winners Dog, Winners Bitch, and winners of the non-regular classes as follows:

• If the Best of Breed/Variety winner is owner-handled competition eligible, it will automatically be Owner-Handled Best of Breed/Variety, and be eligible to compete in both the regular and owner-handled group.

• If the Best of Breed/Variety winner is Owner-Handled competition ineligible, and the Best of Opposite Sex to Best of Breed/Variety is eligible, the Best of Opposite Sex to Best of Breed/Variety will compete against the eligible undefeated exhibits of the other sex to determine Owner-Handled Best of Breed/Variety.

• If the Best of Breed/Variety and the Best of Opposite Sex to Best of Breed/Variety are both ineligible, and Select Dog and Select Bitch are both eligible, the judge is to choose the Owner-Handled Best of Breed/Variety from the Selects and eligible Winners Dog and/or Winners Bitch.

• If only one of the Selects is eligible, all other dogs of the same sex shall be excused, and the judge is to choose Owner-Handled Best of Breed/Variety from the remaining dogs including the eligible Winners Dog/Bitch.

• If Best of Breed/Variety, Best of Opposite Sex to Best of Breed/Variety, Select Dog, and Select Bitch are ineligible, the judge may choose any dog remaining in the ring including Winners Dog and Winners Bitch as Owner-Handled Best of Breed/Variety.

A breed will not be represented in the Owner-Handled Group if there is no eligible dog competing in the Best of Breed/Variety or in the Best of Winners competition.

* Professional handlers are defined as any person who belongs or has belonged to a ‘professional handlers’ organization, distributed rate cards, or otherwise advertised or represented themselves as handling dogs for pay, or received payment for handling a dog within the last five years.
