Story on page 2
“THE REGAL BEAGLE BARKS”
By Hub Miller
I have been a member of this Unit for 18 years.
Even living in Dallas, I have stuck with our Unit
because of the people. We are a cross section
of the American public, from all walks of life.
Everyone is equal and respected for themselves.
There are lessons to be learned. There‟s the
Golden Rule….”Do unto others as you would
have them do unto you.” Is the world a better
place in which to live because you have lived in
it? How many acts of kindness have you done
in the past week? Things you did not have to
do, but you did it because you love all people,
maybe this is not fair, limiting it to a week. How
about a month, a year ,or a lifetime? In the end
what will your record be?
I like to think that my record will be a little bet-ter because of the members of our Unit.
Looking forward to seeing you all soon!

TAILGATING AT TEXAS A&M
It‟s been awhile since the club visited
the Texas A&M campus, but this
Rally did not disappoint on this
visit. Two-point hook-ups on a level
surface and the access to the cov-
ered „Olsen‟ Pavilion made the differ-
ence even tho the weather threw a
little rain at us from time to time.
Hosts: Vern & Jo Goodwin, James & Tonia Goodwin,
Jack & Beverly Williams

A&M TAILGATING RALLY AT BRYAN STATION, TX
The hosts, Vernon & Joletta Goodwin,
along with co-hosts James & Tonia
Goodwin, Jack & Beverly Williams ar-
rived early Thursday. It wasn‟t long be-
fore Unit President & First Lady Hub &
Sherry Miller joined us. Soon we were
joined by Fred Walschburger & Sue
Gaines and Bill & Joanne Miller. Follow-
ing a pleasant social hour (or two) we
had a pot luck dinner and more visiting
and catching up from summer travels.
Friday morning found us turning out for
a visit to the Messina
Hof winery at
1030. Our guide was a
very knowledgeable
young Aggie who obvi-
ously knew his job well. So well that he
went overtime by
1 hour. We
asked a lot of
questions. The
tour was
great. We
learned about
the vineyard‟s origins,
operations and current
wine production. Follow-
ing the tour, we had a
Q& A session where we
experienced a tasting of their current se-
lections. His “pours” were more than
adequate.
Next, we had lunch at their on-site restau-
rant. Again, excellent food and table ser-
vice. (I took a
nap soon after-
ward). More
GHAC mem-
bers arrived
Friday after-
noon; George
& Jamie Nixon,
Jerry & Carol Goodwin, Jerry & Irene
Lyddon, and Jason &
Sherry Goodwin with
Austin age 5 & Riley
3. After another
great social hour, the
hosts provided a
King Ranch casse-
role dinner with
green salad. In
memory of Barbara
Bush‟s passing this
year, we were
served her famous Chocolate Chip cook-
ies with ice cream. Yum. Later, after
obligatory dog walking, we played the
game “Aggie
Trivia”. Nov-
ices learned a
lot about
A&M. Even
some sea-
soned Aggies
learned a few
new details.
Austin Goodwin helping
Granddad with Blessing
for dinner
Jamie & George Nixon with
daughter Cheryl, Hager, who
joined us for dinner on Satur-
day.

Flat Wally has been traveling. Here he is in
Lia Laney‟s home town, a small town in
China on the Yangtze River, Ma‟anshan. He
went to Lia‟s daughter‟s wedding.
Here is Wally in the Columbus, Ohio airport.
He flew to Columbus (I hope 1st Class) to go
to Ron Gilberts 50th Class Reunion
Take Wally wherever you go and send your
pictures to [email protected]. Pic-
tures will be printed and posted at the De-
cember Christmas Rally . If you don't have a
Flat Wally just call or text 214-770-3271 and
he will hop in the US Mail and travel right to
your door.
Saturday found us having early coffee followed
by a Sausage/Egg
Taquito breakfast
with juice &
fruit. Satur-
day‟s group activ-
ity was to tour the
Bush Presidential Li-
brary on campus. Most of us spent 2+hours in
this magnificent exhibit of his life, his Presi-
dency, and his retirement while a serious rain
storm passed over us. I highly recommend a
visit to it if you haven‟t been. .Dinner Saturday
was „tailgate style‟ pulled
pork sandwiches with beans,
coleslaw, potato salad and
straw berry shortcake. Yum
X 2. The evening‟s activity
was Bingo (with prizes). On
the last round, Joanne Miller
was the big winner on the
black-out card with an Edenborough crystal
mug for her success.
Sunday found us in clear
weather and a wonderful
Kolache breakfast before
Jack Williams inspirational
devotion on
“contentment”.
Your hosts Thank every-
one for being good sports
and participating in all the
activities. Most of us left A&M by 10:00
hrs. All the Best – Vernon Goodwin

Do you smell something hot in your rig and it
doesn‟t make you hungry? Then you better
start sniffing and feeling your electrical and
electronic stuff to see if they are cooking. I‟m
including a pair of photos of my motorhome
12volt system fuse box after I found it melting
in my storage bay.
No failure in my 12volt powered equipment but
the plastic housing and the fuses were melting
into a blob as you can see. The cause was a
poor factory installation when the installer at-
tached the battery cable to the circuit board
with an oversize ring terminal. Then corrosion
set in and the
subsequent
high resistance
connection be-
gan to heat
and melt every-
thing plastic,
even the solder
points in the
circuit board.
I found the problem just in time before it
caused a fire. The moral of this story is if the
smell is not from muffins in the oven, you bet-
ter start look-
ing for the
source fast.

A Message from Bob Jones RV
Hello to all our Greater Houston Airstream Club members from the gang at BOB JONES RV.
We would like to express our excitement about an advanced service we are providing. BOB
JONES RV has invested in a SEAL TECH machine that will pressurize the interior cabin of any
coach, allowing us to detect leaks by soaping the complete exterior. It will identify efficiently any
breaches in the exterior seal that will cause water leaks ultimately causing damage.
Our service team will pinpoint problem areas on a chart and consult with the customer a plan for
corrective action. This is a true cost saving & preventive measure to protect your RV investment.
The cost is $230 - $345 depending on your coach configuration. So give us a call to discuss how
we can protect your RV, we think you‟ll be glad you did!
